Literacy Activity <\/strong>(10 minutes):<\/em><\/strong> Write name (first and last name) on a sheet of paper, have your child spell over the name using cereal pieces, fruit snacks, candy, or the beans (see the picture below). Draw a line of different shapes (heart, circle, triangle, square, diamond, rectangle, oval). Have your child jump from shape to shape naming the different shapes they are jumping on. (Send pictures of the shapes to Mrs. Vasas)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n Challenge:<\/em> Describe the a shape, naming its features (example: has 4 sides that are all the same size-square, has 3 sides-triangle), then have your child jump to the shape you are describing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Play Activity\/Work Time <\/strong>(1 hour or more):<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Start (Plan):<\/em> Ask your child \u201cWhat would you like to do today?\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n Play (Do): <\/em>Allow your child to play for at least 1 hour of free play time with their toys (no screens-no TV, no tablets). It is important for your child to have time to be creative and use their imagination. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Clean-Up:<\/em> Provide a warning before it is time for your child to clean up, so they can bring an end to their play. Then have them clean up, or help clean up, the toys they were playing with. It should not be your job to clean up after your child.<\/p>\n\n\n\n End (Review):<\/em> Ask your child \u201cWhat did you do today?\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n *Mention what they told you at the start and see if they did do that or if they chose to do something different.
