Thomas Jefferson, secretary of state, and Alexander Hamilton, secretary of treasury, were both members of George Washington&#8217;s cabinet. While Washington respected both of their passionate political beliefs, they made him very nervous (remember how Washington felt about factions??). Jefferson and his followers, the\u00a0 Republicans, and Hamilton and his fellow Federalists, are famous for creating the foundation for the political parties we have today.<\/p>\n<p><b>Remember:<\/b>\u00a0when we talk about Hamilton&#8217;s Republicans, they were\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">nothing like modern day Republicans<\/span>. Do not relate the two parties! The beliefs and platforms of all political parties have changed a lot over time.<\/p>\n<p>You will be given a <a href=\"file:\/\/\/C:\/Users\/ulfersk\/Downloads\/Jeff%20&amp;%20Ham%20Venn.pdf\">Venn Diagram<\/a> and throughout class we will be filling out the charts. After reviewing what we already know about Jefferson and Hamilton, we will watch a short video. This video will help you fill out your Venn diagram.
