{"id":3339,"date":"2019-09-19T10:57:27","date_gmt":"2019-09-19T14:57:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/trayloa\/?p=3339"},"modified":"2019-09-19T10:57:27","modified_gmt":"2019-09-19T14:57:27","slug":"thursday-september-19-2019","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/trayloa\/2019\/09\/19\/thursday-september-19-2019\/","title":{"rendered":"Thursday, September 19, 2019"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>In Language Arts today the students continued to practice author&#8217;s purpose by sorting more statements based on the reason why they were written.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The class also continued to analyze the poem, &#8220;On Turning Ten&#8221; by participating in a gallery walk where they worked in groups to answer comprehension questions. One of these questions asked them to identify the author&#8217;s purpose for writing the poem. After the activity, the students presented their posters to the class.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We spent time in class learning the last four types of text features. Tomorrow we will be doing a class activity where the students have to identify examples of text features.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lastly, we continued to learn about prefixes by identifying the meaning of common prefixes and determining how to use them in front of root words.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Have a great evening and don&#8217;t forget tomorrow is a half day!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Homework:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Read for 20  minutes<\/li><li>5 Read Theory Quizzes due Tomorrow<\/li><li>Book Talk due Monday, September 30th<\/li><li>Moby Max: Prefix, Suffix, and Root Word Practice due Friday, October 4th<\/li><\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In Language Arts today the students continued to practice author&#8217;s purpose by sorting more statements based on the reason why they were written.
