In Language Arts today the students were given time to go to the book fair.\u00a0 The book fair will be located in the lobby all week and it will be open during conferences. I will not be giving more class time to go but students can stop in on their way to lunch, after school, or during conferences.<\/p>\n
The students also spent time in class reading a new article on NewsELA about self-driving cars.\u00a0 We reviewed the expectations for talking to the text and read with a partner.<\/p>\n
Tonight is the first night for conferences.\u00a0 Ms. Taha and I will be doing student-led conferences together in her room.\u00a0 Report cards can be picked up outside of the office prior to coming to classrooms that way every family knows where their child is at academically before seeing teachers. Once in classrooms, we ask that families discuss with their children before asking the teacher questions.\u00a0 We have spent a lot of time in class learning to advocate for ourselves, reflecting on our progress, and working to prepare what we have learned for our families. Teachers would be happy to talk with families after students have shared.\u00a0 We are asking that our students come to conferences because it is their learning that we are talking about so they should be part of the conversation. Ms. Taha’s room is room 41. Tonight, conferences are from 4:00-7:00 however, Ms. Taha will be leaving at 6:30 so she is starting to allow families to come to her room at 3:30. I will remain in her room until 7:00.\u00a0 If you would like to speak with both of us, I recommend coming between 4:00 and 6:30.\u00a0 I apologize if this is an inconvenience. On Wednesday, conferences will be from 3:30 to 6:30 for both of us.<\/p>\n
