{"id":2276,"date":"2018-01-16T10:52:52","date_gmt":"2018-01-16T15:52:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/trayloa\/?p=2276"},"modified":"2018-01-16T10:53:51","modified_gmt":"2018-01-16T15:53:51","slug":"tuesday-january-16-2018","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/trayloa\/2018\/01\/16\/tuesday-january-16-2018\/","title":{"rendered":"Tuesday, January 16, 2018"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today in Language Arts the students practiced identifying figurative language.\u00a0 This is something we will continue to do throughout the course of the week.<\/p>\n<p>The students also spent time learning about conjunctions and how they can buddy up in a sentence to form correlative conjunctions.<\/p>\n<p>Moby Max has been assigned in class today.\u00a0 This website has a new feature that allows the students to decide the order they would like to complete their Moby Max lessons in instead of the order I assign it.\u00a0 This means that the students can do their Figurative Language Lessons first to help them study for the test they will have on Monday. They can also see how many lessons they have to complete and show their families at home!<\/p>\n<p>The end of the marking period and half way point for the school year is a week from this Friday, January 26th. That means all late assignments are due THIS Friday.\u00a0 The students have been encouraged to check their grades and look to see if they have any missing or incomplete assignments.\u00a0 If they do, I will still take the assignment until 3:05 this Friday.\u00a0 I do not take points off for late work. This also means that all One-Pagers need to be turned in by next Friday.<\/p>\n<p>I am doing my best to keep grades as up to date as possible.\u00a0 I will be done grading the Argumentative Essays by the end of the week.\u00a0 I will then start working on the One-Pagers that are turned in early.<\/p>\n<p>The students will be taking their Unit 2 Comprehension Test on Monday, January 22nd.\u00a0 The test will focus on stories we have read (&#8220;All Summer in a Day&#8221; and &#8220;The Jacket&#8221;), application of figurative language, the application of mood and tone, and the application of story devices.\u00a0 Since this is a comprehension test, it will be open book.\u00a0 The students have been encouraged to review in their interactive notebooks and practice figurative language on Moby Max.<\/p>\n<p>Homework:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Read your good fit book<\/li>\n<li>3 Quizzes on Read Theory Due Friday<\/li>\n<li>All Late Work Due Friday<\/li>\n<li>Unit 2 Comprehension Test on Monday<\/li>\n<li>One-Pagers Three and Four Due Friday, January 26th<\/li>\n<li>Moby Max-Conjunctions, Prepositions, Adverbs, and Figurative Language Due Friday, February 9th<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Figurative Disney\" width=\"960\" height=\"540\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Be2BR8fNZ_Q?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today in Language Arts the students practiced identifying figurative language.\u00a0 This is something we will continue to do throughout the course of the week.
