Yesterday in Language Arts the students were taken to the library.\u00a0 They were also given ten minutes in class to finalize anything they may have needed to practice for their presentation.\u00a0 We also presented in class.<\/p>\n

The students and I discussed some changes that we will be making to the way grading is done from this point forward in the school year.\u00a0 The students will still be expected to read for 60 minutes at home each week.\u00a0 They will still be expected to read two good fit books and complete two one-pagers by the end of the second marking.<\/p>\n

Read Theory and Moby Max will be changing slightly.\u00a0 For Read Theory, the students are still expected to complete 3 quizzes each week.\u00a0 However, they now have to have a passing score.\u00a0 If students do not pass the first three quizzes they take each week, they will be expected to continue taking quizzes until they can pass three. I will also no longer be looking at minutes in Moby Max as well.\u00a0 Instead, lessons will be assigned in Language and students will be expected to complete all of the required lessons by the due date.\u00a0 Currently, we are focusing on verbs.\u00a0 The lessons assigned on verbs will be due Friday, December 1st.<\/strong>\u00a0 The following are the lessons that have been assigned:<\/p>\n

  1. Past, Present, and Future Verbs<\/li>\n
  2. Past Tense of Irregular Verbs<\/li>\n
  3. Progressive Verb Tenses<\/li>\n
  4. Modal Helping Verbs<\/li>\n
  5. Verb Tenses to Convey Sequence<\/li>\n
  6. The Verb to be<\/em> to Convey State<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    The students will still be given time each day to\u00a0 work on this in class.<\/p>\n
