{"id":216,"date":"2014-05-20T15:31:00","date_gmt":"2014-05-20T19:31:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/trayloa\/?p=216"},"modified":"2014-05-20T15:31:00","modified_gmt":"2014-05-20T19:31:00","slug":"tuesday-may-20-2014","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/trayloa\/2014\/05\/20\/tuesday-may-20-2014\/","title":{"rendered":"Tuesday, May 20, 2014"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today in Language Arts we continued to analyze poetry. \u00a0Students worked in small groups to identify the theme of some of Robert Frost&#8217;s work. \u00a0They then presented their findings to the class.<\/p>\n<p>We have now moved on to writing our own poetry. \u00a0The students were introduced to various styles of poetry. \u00a0This included a diamante, cinquain, haiku, a bio poem, and a limerick. \u00a0Tomorrow they will select two styles of poetry and create their own pieces. \u00a0I will be requiring a third poem. \u00a0This poem must be a bio. \u00a0The students will be given time in class to work on their poems and we will begin presenting them on Thursday. \u00a0We will not finish presentations in class. \u00a0Whoever does not present on Thursday will present on Wednesday when we return from break.<\/p>\n<p>Our poetry test will be the Tuesday we return from break. \u00a0Please make sure that you know how to analyze a poem, know poetic devices, and how to create different kinds of poetry.<\/p>\n<p>Have a great evening!<\/p>\n<p>Journal Topic: \u00a0Choice day! \u00a0Write about a topic of your choice. \u00a0Suggestion: \u00a0What will you do over the four day break?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today in Language Arts we continued to analyze poetry. \u00a0Students worked in small groups to identify the theme of some of Robert Frost&#8217;s work. \u00a0They then presented their findings to the class.
