{"id":1647,"date":"2016-11-09T08:09:22","date_gmt":"2016-11-09T13:09:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/trayloa\/?p=1647"},"modified":"2016-11-09T08:09:22","modified_gmt":"2016-11-09T13:09:22","slug":"wednesday-november-9-2016","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/trayloa\/2016\/11\/09\/wednesday-november-9-2016\/","title":{"rendered":"Wednesday, November 9, 2016"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In Language Arts today the students read their article of the week. \u00a0Since this is a pro\/con article, the students were asked to identify evidence that supports both sides of the argument. \u00a0We used the text features to determine which side of the argument was being focused on at various points throughout the article.<\/p>\n<p>The students were also given time to select a topic for their argumentative writing piece. \u00a0We will be working on this writing assignment gradually over the course of the next two weeks. \u00a0For those of you who attended conferences, this is the paper I was referring to.<\/p>\n<p>Our class writes six papers throughout the course of the school year and this one is the first. \u00a0In this class, essays are graded as summative scores and I make sure to give the students a significant amount of time in class to work on the assignment as well as seek support from myself and peers.
