How was your weekend?  I hope it was great!  I am excited to start another week of online learning!  Before we start our activities today, here are some announcements:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Free Meal Distributions<\/strong> <strong>Schedule Change (Week of May 18)<\/strong><br>Due to the Memorial Day weekend, here is a minor schedule change this week for the free meal distributions. If you would like a call back, please message me on Remind.<br>I will send your child\u2019s personal activities on Remind on Tuesday morning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Literacy Activity<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>For our literacy activity today, we are going to do a combination of a reading and writing activity.  For this activity, we are going to read, <em>If You Give a Pig a Pancake<\/em>, by Laura Numeroff, illustrated by Felicia Bond (read aloud by Mr. Liepe)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"If You Give a Pig a Pancake\" width=\"644\" height=\"362\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Uz1yECVuv94?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>After you and your child are done reading the story, ask your child what they think would happen if they gave a pig a pancake.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Encourage them to verbally tell you their story.  When they are done telling you their story, encourage them to write their story in their notebooks.  (I encourage you to send pictures of your child&#8217;s story to me on Remind or email: thompsl@dearbornschools.org).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Math Activity<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>How many letters are in your child&#8217;s first name?  Let&#8217;s count! It helps children learn to organize their thoughts. Encourage your child to draw pictures of what the rain looks like.
