A parent or older sibling must be present to receive the Chromebook.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Phone Calls to Families<\/strong><br>I want to thank you all SO MUCH for your patience and cooperation during this uncertain time.  I want to also thank all of you for your patience and cooperation as I have been trying to figure out the best ways to contact your families.<br>As mentioned, Google Meet has been <strong><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">suspended<\/span><\/strong> for students.  This means our Google Meet video chat for Wednesday, April 29 at 2:30 is <strong><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">cancelled<\/span><\/strong>.  Because of this, I am planning on a more effective method of communication.<br>Starting next week (week of May 4), Mrs. Askar and I will continue to call families, however, the method is going to change.  We will call 8 families on Tuesday from 12:00PM-3:00PM and 8 families on Thursday from 12:00 PM-3:00PM.  Mrs. Askar and I will conference call with the families and your child.  When we call tomorrow, we will ask if you prefer a day (Tuesday or Thursday) and time frame between 12:00PM-3:00PM.  At the end of the week, I will send you a message on Remind with the day Mrs. Askar and I are going to call you. Today is a beautiful day for a walk!  If you are unable to go for a walk, you can do this activity inside by looking out the window.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Go for a walk with your child around the neighborhood.  (If you cannot go outside, you can look out your window)<\/li><li>On your walk, talk to your child about some of the things you see (trees, birds, grass, etc.).<\/li><li>When you come home from your walk, encourage your child to draw\/write what they saw on their walk.<\/li><li>As your child is drawing\/writing, talk to them about what they saw outside.<\/li><li>When your child is done with their drawing\/writing, encourage them to write the first letter of the things they saw outside.  (For example, if your child drew grass, they should write letter, &#8220;G.&#8221;)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>If you do not have the materials do draw\/write about your walk, do these steps instead:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>When you come home from your walk or when you are done looking out the window, talk to your child about what they saw outside.<\/li><li>Ask your child what letter the outdoor item starts with.  (For example, if your child saw a bird, they should say, &#8220;B.&#8221;)<\/li><li>Encourage your child to slowly draw the letter in the air with their finger.  (For example, if your child saw a bird, they should slowly draw the letter, &#8220;B,&#8221; in the air with their finger.)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Math Activity<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Let&#8217;s practice counting to 10 today!  Here are some fun ways your child can practice counting to 10:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Jump 10 times in the sky!  Each time your child jumps count that number.  Make sure your child doesn&#8217;t jump too fast or else they will lose track of their count.  <\/li><li>Clap your hands 10 times.  Each time your child claps count that clap.  Make sure your child doesn&#8217;t clap their hands too fast or else they will lose track of their count.<\/li><li>Stomp your foot 10 times.  Each time your child stomps their foot count that clap.  Make sure your child doesn&#8217;t stomp their foot too fast or else they will lose track of their count.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>If your child masters counting to 10, give them a challenge! As a reminder, here are the steps for this process:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Planning Time (5 minutes): Build your child\u2019s ability to organize their time by having them make a \u201cplan\u201d with you about what they would like to play with.&nbsp; Children do this everyday with us at school. It helps children learn to organize their thoughts.
