ALREADY!!!!!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hello Howard Families!<\/p>\n<p>Here is an update as to what is happening in the art studio!<\/p>\n<p>Kindergarten has completed &#8220;Texture Turkeys&#8221;. \u00a0We used texture plates to create implied textures on our turkey drawings. \u00a0We talked about the difference between surface texture (smooth, rough, bumpy, fuzzy, prickly) \u00a0and the density of an object (hard or soft). \u00a0This would be great to review at home with your kinders and all other grade levels as well! \u00a0A counter top may be hard (knock on it) but the surface texture is smooth. \u00a0Let them compare the texture of Mommy&#8217;s face (smooth) to Daddy&#8217;s face (rough) by rubbing it.<\/p>\n<p>First grade: \u00a0We just completed our unit on The Father of Abstract Art, Wassily (W is pronounced as a V) Kandinsky! \u00a0Ask your child what a concentric circle is! \u00a0Ask what Crayon Resist is! \u00a0We are continuing with more abstract art by tracing french curves, designing them with colored pencil, and later will cut and collage them onto other papers.<\/p>\n<p>Second grade: \u00a0We just completed our unit on The Father of Abstract Art, Wassily (W is pronounced as a V) Kandinsky! \u00a0Ask your child what a concentric circle is! \u00a0Ask what Crayon Resist is! \u00a0Ask what Crayon Resist is! \u00a0We are continuing with more abstract art by tracing french curves, designing them with colored pencil, and later will cut and collage them onto other papers.<\/p>\n<p>Third grade: \u00a0We just completed our Sunflower Still Life using chalk strokes in the style of the impressionist painter, Vincent Van Gogh. \u00a0Ask your child about foreground, middle ground and background. \u00a0Look for these on dispaly in the hallways! \u00a0 We are beginning color mixing and the study of The Father of Abstract Art, Wassily Kandinsky.<\/p>\n<p>Fourth grade: \u00a0Completing our 3D sunflowers this week! \u00a0Beginning some gesture drawing, then moving into color mixing with a study of The Father of Abstract Art, \u00a0Wassily Kandinsky.<\/p>\n<p>Fifth grade: \u00a0We just created bowls for our Empty Bowls Meal to take place this Monday at Park Place. \u00a0ALL are invited! \u00a0Make it a family tradition!!! \u00a0See flyer below! \u00a0We are glazing the bowls this week and many of our students were and will be filmed creating these bowls for our Dearborn channel. \u00a0Students will also be completing their amazing Impressionist Sunflower Still Life by Thanksgiving! \u00a0Wahoo! \u00a0Thank you to the parents\/students who have already brought in their tissue boxes!!!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hello Howard Families!
