Mrs. Walsh &#8211; iBlog and Google Docs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/HtPEvprmMRY?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/kwalsh\/\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/kwalsh\/<\/a><\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/technology.dearbornschools.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2015\/10\/ELA-Google-Slides.png\"><br \/>\n<\/a>In this guided tour we will look at how Mrs. Walsh at Woodworth Middle School designed her\u00a0brand new classroom\u00a0website using iBlog. \u00a0Here is a run-down of what she has\u00a0done so far.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Theme: Anarcho Notepad<\/li>\n<li>Custom Menu<\/li>\n<li>Static\u00a0Homepage<\/li>\n<li>Posts are moved to Announcement Page<\/li>\n<li>Links to Monthly Google Presentation which contains bellwork, agenda, and learning targets for each day.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1380 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/technology.dearbornschools.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2015\/10\/ELA-Google-Slides-1024x553.png\" alt=\"ELA Google Slides\" width=\"546\" height=\"295\" srcset=\"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/technology\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2015\/10\/ELA-Google-Slides-1024x553.png 1024w, https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/technology\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2015\/10\/ELA-Google-Slides-300x162.png 300w, https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/technology\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2015\/10\/ELA-Google-Slides.png 1905w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 546px) 100vw, 546px\" \/>What makes Mrs. Walsh&#8217;s website stand out is how she has maximized her communication workflow for both students and parents by utilizing both iBlog and Google Docs. \u00a0The website sports a static homepage and all blog posts appear on a sub-page titled &#8220;Announcements&#8221;. \u00a0Currently there are two additional links in the main menu which point to Google Presentations. \u00a0These presentations are the same docs used during class for bellwork, agendas, and learning targets. \u00a0<strong>There is no double work of posting daily homework. \u00a0The Google Presentation does that! \u00a0<\/strong> By using a presentation and linking it to the website, Mrs. Walsh is able to add new slides for each day and keep a monthly archive of everything they covered.<\/p>\n<h2>Adding Links To Google Docs<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/technology.dearbornschools.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2015\/10\/menus.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-1369\" src=\"https:\/\/technology.dearbornschools.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2015\/10\/menus.png\" alt=\"menus\" width=\"263\" height=\"284\" srcset=\"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/technology\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2015\/10\/menus.png 745w, https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/technology\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2015\/10\/menus-278x300.png 278w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 263px) 100vw, 263px\" \/><\/a>The first thing to do is to allow anyone with the link to view your Google Presentation. \u00a0This is done through the sharing button inside Google Drive. \u00a0Copy the shared link and go into your iBlog Dashboard &gt; Appearance &gt; Menus. \u00a0Here you can create a custom menu. \u00a0To add a link to your Google Presentation you simply paste the ling into the &#8220;Custom Link&#8221; area and add it to the menu.<\/p>\n<p>The menu can be arranged however you like and can include links to pages, posts, post categories, and other websites. \u00a0This give you the ultimate control over how your website navigation works.<\/p>\n<p>In the next step you will be creating two new pages-\u00a0Home and Announcements. \u00a0You will most likely need to come back to the menus page to re-arrange and add in the new pages you create next.
