Students were given the criteria and constraints for the machine project:<\/p>\n<p>Criteria:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Move the white ball into the red cup.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Have as many cause and effect steps as possible.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Constraints:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Use only the materials provided.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The ball must be stationary (not moving) to start.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The ball must be put in motion without a person touching it.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The machine must fit on your team\u2019s tables.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Students began by drawing a plan for their machine, and started using the materials to test out their ideas. Tomorrow we will continue with this group project, which will be a summative grade of 30 points. Students will be graded using the attached rubric.<\/p>\n<p>Homework: None<\/p>\n<p>The engineering quiz is this Friday, Nov. 2. 2018.
