{"id":289,"date":"2016-05-19T08:16:54","date_gmt":"2016-05-19T12:16:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/suarezpe\/?p=289"},"modified":"2016-05-19T08:16:54","modified_gmt":"2016-05-19T12:16:54","slug":"coming-down-the-stretch","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/suarezpe\/2016\/05\/19\/coming-down-the-stretch\/","title":{"rendered":"Coming down the stretch!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hello, Hello!<\/p>\n<p>Testing is just about over and we&#8217;re coming down the stretch.\u00a0 It doesn&#8217;t mean the race is over, it means we need to work just as hard to get to the finish!\u00a0 We need to work hard on the same things we&#8217;ve been working hard on all year; following PBIS Expectations, being kind and showing compassion, helping others, doing homework and showing best effort in all classes.\u00a0 The weather is getting warmer and we&#8217;ll be going outside a bit more in PE class &#8211; if only just to run.\u00a0 Kick ball and whiffle ball will lead the activities as well as jogging around our track.\u00a0 How lucky we are to have great playgrounds and a nice big track to run around!<\/p>\n<p><strong>HEALTHY TID BIT: SUN SAFETY ALL YEAR &#8216;ROUND!!!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Some exposure to the sun is good!<\/strong>\u00a0 It&#8217;s the best source of vitamin D, which helps our bodies absorb calcium for stronger and healthier bones.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Too much sun exposure is not good!\u00a0 <\/strong>It can cause skin damage, eye damage and possibly skin cancer.\u00a0 In order to protect yourself from the sun&#8217;s damaging rays you should:<\/p>\n<p><strong>-Use sunscreen<\/strong>-everyday-even on cloudy days and in the winter!\u00a0 The SPF (sun protection factor) should be at least 30 and your sunscreen should say &#8220;water resistant up to 80 minutes&#8221; and &#8220;broad spectrum&#8221; on the label.\u00a0 In addition to your body, don&#8217;t forget to apply sunscreen to ears, hands, feet, behind the neck and don&#8217;t forget lip balm (chapstick) with SPF 30, also.\u00a0 It&#8217;s best to re-apply sunscreen every 2 hours.\u00a0 There are a wide variety\u00a0 of sunscreens out there and some of them are not very good.\u00a0 Check with your Doctor to see what&#8217;s best for you.<\/p>\n<p><strong>-Cover up<\/strong> &#8211; This means a hat with a wide brim, a light long sleeved shirt.<\/p>\n<p><strong>-Sunglasses<\/strong> &#8211; the label should say 100% UV protection.\u00a0 Did you know that your eye&#8217;s iris&#8217;s can get sunburned?<\/p>\n<p><strong>-Shade<\/strong> &#8211; Take shade breaks, get out of the sun and do an activity in the shade-under an umbrella or a tree.\u00a0 Stay out of the sun during the hottest part of the day &#8211; (10 am -2 pm).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Remember &#8211; Have Fun in the Sun &#8211; but do it Safely!!!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Have a sunny day!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hello, Hello!
