News:  We will be shopping at the Santa Shop on Wednesday as a classI am sending home notes today to be filled out that at the children need to bring back to help the assistants help shop.  I have attached a link just in case it gets lost.

Santa WS

Our field trip is this Thursday.  Please send children in a Lindbergh or red shirt if possible, with tennis shoes and comfortable clothes for playing.  Have your child come to school with a bag lunch, no glass or containers that need to be returned.  Remember they will be running and playing right after eating, so pack a light lunch.  Chaperones who signed up may ride the bus or drive separately, either way, no siblings.  Chaperones, Please arrive at 9 and sign in at the office.

Language Arts  Last week we continued working on opinion writing and learning how to edit our writing to make it better.  We added editing for capitals and missing words to our chart as well.  We began to listen for middle sounds in words and continued our work with rhyming words.  We also introduced long vowel sounds with long A.

Math/Science/Social Studies  We completed Module 2 on shapes and did the assessment.  We began Module 3 on measurement and I sent the Module 1-2 class books home.  In Science we explored using all of our 5 senses to figure out the mystery item under the bin. We are havaing a Super Science Day on Wednesday, December 19th.   We would like some helpers to come in about 1:30 to help us with our 5 senses final project.  We will need 5 volunteers to help for about 45 minutes.  Please respond to this post if you are able to come and run a station.  In Social Studies we used a visual to determine the amount of sugar in the foods we eat.  To see the pile of sugar for 5-21 grams of sugar was astounding.  We also discussed goods as things we make our buy.  We introduced services as  something that is done for us, like teachers, firefighters, and dentists.

Letters Of The Week:  WE ARE DONE!!  We will begin our study specifically of the vowels and how they make 2 sounds, short and long.  Long vowels say their names.  Books will be returned this week.  Look for a page of vowel sounds to be completed and returned by Friday.

Letters in Review: Ss, Mm, Rr, Bb, Tt, Nn, Aa, Dd, Oo, Ii, Cc, Gg, Hh, Ff, Pp, Ee, Vv, Zz, Uu, Ll, Ww, Jj, Yy, Zz, Kk, Qq

Words of The Week:

Words in Review: the, I, can, see, like, to, look, at, come, and, a, we, go, in, my, he, is, has, are, for, here, you, this, little, she, said

Homework:

Long vowel page- going home Tuesday.

Math: Module 3 Lessons:  lessons 3-5, and extra practice number writing, counting,  and recognition to 10 in all formations if needed.  Review of flat shapes, circle, square, rectangle, triangle, and hexagon, along with solid shapes, cylinder, cone, cube, and sphere is needed as well.

Language: Continue to work on reading the sight words in their guided reading bag. You can have your child create a set at home to practice as well.

Leader In Me

We had our first class lesson last week focused on Habit 2,  Begin with the End in Mind.  We watched a quick video clip and discussed how the charter needed to have a plan to reach his goals.  We then all wrote our own goals to work toward at school.  Setting family goals will help continue the leadership responsibilities we are learning about here at school.

Don’t forget to check the Lindbergh tab at the top for school news and events!

.

Have a wonderful week of learning!
