………………………………………… (313)\n827-3006 mustond@dearbornschools.org<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n ………………………………………… <\/p>\n\n\n\n www.DearbornSchools.org<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n Students First- <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Inspire,\nEducate, Celebrate<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Dearborn Schools offering\nfree breakfast and lunch pickup for students at six sites<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Dearborn\nPublic Schools is offering free pickup lunch and breakfast for students while\nschool is closed for the mandatory shut down over the next three weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Families\nwill be able to stop in and pick up a bag with both breakfast and lunch for\neach child in the family. Pickups will\nrun daily from 10 a.m. to noon starting tomorrow, March 17 at Fordson, Edsel\nFord and Dearborn high schools, McCollough-Unis, Salina Intermediate, and\nWoodworth Middle School.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Signage\nat each site will direct parents and students where to enter the building. Food\nwill be near entrances to minimize the amount of time community members spend\nin the facilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Please\nnote, meals are available to anyone age 18 and younger. Students do not need to be present, and the\nDearborn School student does not need to attend at that building. A designated person can collect meals for\nmultiple children. Meals for Saturday\nand Sunday can be picked up on Friday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The\nprogram will allow the District\u2019s 20,700 students to continue to have access to\nhealthy food. Gov. Gretchen Whitmer last\nweek ordered all Michigan schools closed from March 16 through April 3 to slow\nthe spread of novel coronavirus and cases of COVID-19. Dearborn Schools is scheduled for spring\nbreak April 6 to 10, so school will not resume in the District until April 13.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The\ngrab-and-go meals will be served at least through April 3. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Superintendent\nGlenn Maleyko praised the District\u2019s food service team for quickly implementing\nthis drastic change in service to meet the needs of families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWe\nappreciate the patience of our families and community as we all try to adjust\nto this sudden change from closing schools,\u201d Dr. Maleyko said. \u201cMore than three quarters of our students\nqualify for free or reduced priced school meals.
