Located on the Dearborn Heights Campus, the ACE school is an opportunity for students who would otherwise be retained in middle school to earn high school credit through a blended learning program, using innovative instructional methods. \u00a0Students spend two years in this smaller, personalized and responsive learning environment to prepare for a successful 11<\/span>th<\/span> and 12<\/span>th<\/span> grade high school experience back at their home schools and to graduate on time. Students spend 12 days during the summer working with the high school staff on study skills and previewing the ninth grade curriculum. Once the regular school year begins, these students are followed closely by their counselors. The counselors meet frequently with the students and communicate with their teachers to ensure success catching any problems encountered by the students at the earliest stage. Lunch meetings give students the opportunity to stay in constant contact with their counselors and the ninth grade lead teacher. This offers the strong support necessary for at-risk freshmen to adjust to high school. Contact: High School Counselor<\/span><\/p>\n Honors classes are offered in Language Arts (9<\/span>th<\/span> and 10<\/span>th<\/span> grades), Geometry (9<\/span>th<\/span> grade), Algebra 2 (10<\/span>th<\/span> grade), Pre-Calculus (11<\/span>th<\/span> grade), Biology (9<\/span>th<\/span> grade), Chemistry (10<\/span>th<\/span> and 11<\/span>th<\/span> grades) and Physics (10<\/span>th<\/span> and 11<\/span>th<\/span> grades). These advanced high school classes are faster paced and more rigorous than non-honors classes. Enrollment is limited and is based on past grades, test scores, and teacher recommendation. Enrollment is open to all students in the 11<\/span>th<\/span> and 12<\/span>th<\/span> grades. Students who take AP classes are encouraged to sit for the national AP exams in May of each year. Students achieving a passing score are awarded college credit by the college or university they attend after high school. Contact: High School Counselor\/High School Principal<\/span><\/p>\n Each high school offers additional support classes in math and reading\/writing support during the school day to students who are performing substantially below grade level. This support class is in addition to students\u2019 regular language arts and\/or math class and replaces an elective. \u00a0Contact: High School Counselor or Math\/Language Arts Coordinator<\/span><\/p>\n Secondary summer school offers students another opportunity to catch up on lost credits as well as offering the possibility of taking additional classes during the regular school year. District-wide summer school location rotates each year between Dearborn High, Edsel Ford, and Fordson High School. This is important for our goal of keeping students on track in order to graduate high school on-time.
