{"id":252,"date":"2017-08-03T14:22:20","date_gmt":"2017-08-03T18:22:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/speterson\/?page_id=252"},"modified":"2017-08-03T15:03:56","modified_gmt":"2017-08-03T19:03:56","slug":"henry-ford-collegiate-academy","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/speterson\/henry-ford-collegiate-academy\/","title":{"rendered":"Henry Ford Collegiate Academy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This is a partnership between Dearborn Public Schools and Henry Ford College. \u00a0Through this program, students can earn BOTH a high school diploma and a 2 year associate degree in only five years at NO COST to parents or students.<\/p>\n<p>This unique five year program allows students to attend school at their comprehensive high school (Dearborn, Edsel Ford or Fordson High School) and Henry Ford College simultaneously. \u00a0Music, athletics, theater, clubs, commencement ceremonies, honors night, prom, homecoming and all of the other activities that complete the high school experience are still a part of your child&#8217;s experience when they enroll in the Henry Ford Collegiate Academy. \u00a0Plus, students have access to all of the programs and offerings of a true college experience at Henry Ford College.<\/p>\n<p>Students enter the program at the start of their junior year based on the scores they achieved on the PSAT 10 taken in the spring of their 10th grade year.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Are you eligible?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Students must score college and career ready on the PSAT taken in the spring of their tenth grade. \u00a0The current <strong>PSAT-10<\/strong> benchmarks are 430 for Evidenced Based Reading and Writing and 48o for Math.<\/li>\n<li>Students must be on-track to graduate.<\/li>\n<li>Students must have attended Dearborn Public Schools during their tenth grade year.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>Frequently Asked Questions:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>What is the program all about?<\/strong> \u00a0The Henry Ford Collegiate Academy is an opportunity for students to attain both a high school diploma and a two year associate degree in five years at no cost to the student or parent.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Who is eligible to receive this scholarship and enroll in the program?<\/strong> \u00a0Any 11th grade Dearborn Public Schools student who has been successful in all 9th and 10th grade courses, attended Dearborn Public Schools during their 10th grade year and achieved the required scores on the PSAT 10 test given the spring of 10th grade is eligible.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Does my child have to attend a certain high school?<\/strong> \u00a0Students enrolled at Dearborn High School, Edsel Ford High School or Fordson High School can be part of this program.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Will my child be able to participate in sports and other activities?<\/strong> \u00a0Yes. \u00a0Students enrolled in the program will still be able to take part in high school activities at their home high school during through their 12th grade year. \u00a0This includes music, athletics, theater, clubs, commencement ceremonies, honors night, prom, homecoming and all of the other activities as time permits.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Does Dearborn Public Schools really cover the cost of college books, tuition and fees?<\/strong> \u00a0Yes. \u00a0The district covers the cost of all college classes in the program taken during fall and winter semesters during their 11th, 12th and 13th years. \u00a0This includes books and fees. \u00a0There is no cost to the student or parent.<\/li>\n<li><strong>What about transportation to the college?<\/strong> \u00a0The parents and students are responsible for transportation to and from the college campus.<\/li>\n<li><strong>When my child completes the program, will the course work transfer to a four year university?<\/strong> \u00a0Yes. \u00a0College credit earned at HFC is transferable to bachelors degree programs. \u00a0HFC&#8217;s transfer and articulation agreements apply credits earned through this program. \u00a0Students will also enter the four year university with two year&#8217;s worth of college credits and be eligible to apply for freshman scholarships.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Where can I get more information?<\/strong> \u00a0Email peterss@dearbornschools.org for more information.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This is a partnership between Dearborn Public Schools and Henry Ford College. \u00a0Through this program, students can earn BOTH a high school diploma and a 2 year associate degree in only five years at NO COST to parents or students.
