Five words are spelling pattern words. Five words are sight words (these are words students need to be able to read just by looking at them and not sounding them out). On the test on Friday, students will get five additional words that follow the spelling pattern for the week. \u00a0The goal is for students to generalize the pattern.<\/p>\n<p>The spelling pattern this week is the consonant, vowel, consonant pattern\u00a0with\u00a0short vowel sounds of a and i.<\/p>\n<p>Our pattern words are <em><strong>can, sat, win, fit, did (students will get 5 additional words on the test that follow this pattern)\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Our sight words are <em><strong>look, said, has, six, big<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Please have your child study these words daily as well as read.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I hope to meet you at Open House on Thursday, September 15, from 6:00 &#8211; 7:30. \u00a0We are in room 211.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Each week, students will have 10 spelling words to practice.
