We are learning that the e at the end of the word changes the vowel sound from a short vowel sound to a long vowel sound.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pattern Words<\/strong> &#8211; \u00a0<em>cap, cape, mad, made, pan, pane, tap, tape, man, mane\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Dolch Words<\/strong> &#8211; \u00a0<em>ask, take, as, fast, after<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>NWEA Testing this Week<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We will be taking the NWEA Reading test on Tuesday morning and the NWEA Math test on Thursday morning. There are about 56 questions on each test. We will take a short break half way through. Please talk to your child about taking their time and doing their best on the test. Also, please make sure your child gets enough sleep and eats a good breakfast so they can be well rested and ready \u00a0the morning of the test.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Every now and then I will share a math game with you that would be easy to play at home. The supplies needed can be found at the dollar store.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>COUNTING ON CARD GAME<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>By\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/creativefamilyfun.net\/author\/terri\/\">Terri Thompson<\/a><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">In Counting On: The Card Game, we\u2019re practicing the basic skill of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/creativefamilyfun.net\/math-homework-101-counting-on\/\">counting on<\/a>\u00a0(counting beginning at any number other than one).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">SUPPLIES NEEDED:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Deck of cards with the Jacks, Queens, Kings, and Jokers removed<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Dice (1 or 2)\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">INSTRUCTIONS:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Shuffle and place the cards face down on the table. Player one flips over the top card and starts a discard pile.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Next the\u00a0first player will throw the dice. Their challenge is to start counting from the number shown on the card and count on the number of times shown on the dice.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">If you flip over a 3 and roll a 6 you would start with 3 and count on 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9. <span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<strong> 3 + 6 =9<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Take turns flipping over a card and counting.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">There is no winner or loser in this game.
