{"id":772,"date":"2020-04-29T08:13:59","date_gmt":"2020-04-29T12:13:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/sokoloski\/?p=772"},"modified":"2020-04-29T08:13:59","modified_gmt":"2020-04-29T12:13:59","slug":"speech-therapy-through-play","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/sokoloski\/2020\/04\/29\/speech-therapy-through-play\/","title":{"rendered":"Speech Therapy through Play"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Here are some ideas for how to work on speech while playing with your child.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When playing with blocks, puzzles, ball, bubbles, etc.:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Work on taking turns\/joint attention<\/li><li>Label the toy &#8211; type, color, size<\/li><li>Withhold the toy until your child requests it through sign\/gesture\/word<\/li><li>Use core vocabulary when playing: up, down, in, out, on, off, more<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>When playing with toy cars:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Make car noises \u201cbeep beep, vroom, crash\u201d<\/li><li>Make your cars STOP and GO.&nbsp; At school the children like when we do a 1, 2, 3 count before ex: \u201c1, 2, 3\u2026Go!\u201d<\/li><li>Say \u201cuh oh\u201d or \u201coh no\u201d and make the cars crash into something<\/li><\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Here are some ideas for how to work on speech while playing with your child.
