Even though the weather wasn’t the best, I hope you all had fun on Halloween night and enjoyed the outdoors this weekend.<\/p>\n
Our weekly theme is\u00a0Getting Along.<\/strong><\/p>\n Lots of review this week as we end our 3 week unit on FRIENDS. \u00a0We will review the words \u00a0like, a\u00a0<\/strong>(remember to read this as “ahh”) and our letters\u00a0S s \u00a0P p.<\/strong> \u00a0We will also be identifying areas of reading on which we need to focus to be good readers. \u00a0Those areas are:<\/p>\n Comprehension –<\/strong>understanding what we read or is read to us<\/p>\n Accuracy-<\/strong>hearing, working, reading with good language<\/p>\n Fluency-<\/strong>recognizing letters, sounds, and words<\/p>\n Expanding<\/strong>-aware of print,\u00a0\u00a0increasing vocabulary in reading, writing, and speaking<\/p>\n WRITING-Writing a good sentence. \u00a0First comes the idea that you want to write. \u00a0Say the sentence\/idea\/thought. \u00a0Does the sentence make sense? \u00a0All of this is done before we write any words. \u00a0Then we begin writing, stretching out each word, listening for sounds and writing the letters that go with the sounds. \u00a0This is why it is important to know what sounds each letter makes. \u00a0Next we have to know HOW to write each letter. \u00a0There is a lot to writing!<\/p>\n MATH-We’ll discover ways we can use our bodies as tools for understanding and applying mathematical skills and concepts. \u00a0We also will begin another section which has these main areas of focus:<\/p>\n -concepts of addition and subtraction through concrete acvtivities<\/p>\n -number writing<\/p>\n -to extend number comparison skills<\/p>\n -skip counting by 10’s<\/p>\n -introduce the pan balance<\/p>\n This week…<\/p>\n Tuesday (tomorrow) \u00a0NO SCHOOL \u00a0Voting Day<\/p>\n Friday-1\/2 day \u00a0Dismissal at 11:45<\/p>\n Have a good week.<\/p>\n Mrs. Smith<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Even though the weather wasn’t the best, I hope you all had fun on Halloween night and enjoyed the outdoors this weekend.
