READING- We are in week 3 of our Start-up Unit. \u00a0This week we will review our words, I \u00a0Can \u00a0can,\u00a0<\/strong>from weeks 1 & 2. \u00a0I have also added using a\u00a0period<\/strong> at the end of sentences. \u00a0We also will be discussing\u00a0sounds.<\/strong><\/p>\n This week we will discuss\u00a0Position Words<\/strong> (above, between, beside, top, behind, …) \u00a0Last week we talked about\u00a0characters<\/strong> in stories. \u00a0This week we will focus on\u00a0settings.<\/strong>\u00a0 Can you visualize\u00a0<\/strong>the\u00a0setting<\/strong> as we read a story? \u00a0You can discuss these when you are reading bedtime stories!<\/p>\n WRITING-We will focus on each student writing their own sentence about\u00a0I can…<\/strong> \u00a0(a complete, independent thought)<\/p>\n MATH-We will begin a number book. \u00a0Correct number formation will be emphasized. \u00a0I will begin assessing 1 to 1 correspondence with counting. \u00a0You can practice with them at home-have them count silverware, napkins, pennies, shoes, around the house. \u00a0They should touch each item as they say the number. \u00a0I will also be checking to see if they know that the last number that they say in counting items will represent the actual number of items. \u00a0For example, the student counts 18 shoes. \u00a0I ask them, “How many shoes are there?” \u00a0They should answer “18.”<\/p>\n Looking ahead…Book Fair Purchases are today.<\/p>\n Enjoy your week.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Mrs. Smith<\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Good Morning! \u00a0I hope you and your family enjoyed some family time together in this beautiful, fall weather. \u00a0Cool and crisp!
