I can hardly believe that I am writing April 15!!\u00a0 Even after all of these years teaching, I am still surprised at how quickly a year goes.\u00a0 I get so attached to each one of these special people.\u00a0 Thanks for sharing them with me each day.<\/p>\n

Here’s what I have planned for next week…<\/p>\n
READING-\u00a0Plants<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n WRITING-Informational Writing\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>about …what else but\u00a0PLANTS!<\/strong><\/p>\n They will also do a “cold write,” where I will give them a topic and assess it against a writing rubric.\u00a0 They will do a second “cold write” in May.\u00a0 Have them keep writing at home-notes to Mom, Dad, Grandma, Grandpa, the dog, their teddy bear, special friend, their neighbor…\u00a0 More than just a grocery list.\u00a0 It needs to have sentences, just like we’ve done all year.\u00a0 Write with details.\u00a0 How about writing to an author?<\/p>\n SPELLING-\u00a0 “ip”\u00a0 chunk\u00a0 \u00a0hip\u00a0 lip\u00a0 sip\u00a0 nip\u00a0 dip\u00a0 rip\u00a0 ship\u00a0 skip\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0did\u00a0 \u00a0come<\/strong><\/p>\n SCIENCE- We’ll plant.\u00a0 You know me and I like them to make things to foster that application of learning.\u00a0 So, we’ll “make” a plant.<\/p>\n After we make our entry in Science Journals about our potatoes, the potatoes will go home next week.\u00a0 Just dig a hole, add a little water, cover and forget about them until fall when you can dig them up and you you should have some little potatoes!!<\/p>\n We’ll also talk about\u00a0Recycling.<\/em><\/p>\n PHONICS-\u00a0\u00a0sm\u00a0 sk<\/strong><\/p>\n PARTS OF SPEECH-Mon & Tues-Nouns<\/strong>\u00a0 \u00a0Wed & Thurs\u00a0Verbs<\/strong><\/p>\n MATH-We will start Module 5\u00a0 Counting\/Explaining groups of 10 (which I have been doing with my class all year)<\/p>\n Reminder that there is NO SCHOOL next Friday, April 19.<\/p>\n Friday Book Bag Reading Group, please bring your Book Bag on Thursday.<\/p>\n Have a good weekend.<\/p>\n Mrs. Smith<\/p>\n <\/p>\n “The great man does not not think beforehand<\/p>\n of his words that they might be sincere,<\/p>\n nor of his actions that they may be resolute-<\/p>\n he simply speaks and does what is right.”<\/p>\n -Mencius<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" I can hardly believe that I am writing April 15!!\u00a0 Even after all of these years teaching, I am still surprised at how quickly a year goes.\u00a0 I get so attached to each one of these special people.\u00a0 Thanks for sharing them with me each day.
