Snow greeted us this morning!\u00a0 I told my husband that I knew of 24 very excited little Kindergarteners this morning!\u00a0 I can only imagine the squeals in your houses this morning.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s what&#8217;s coming up next week&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>READING\/WRITING THEME-Harvest and Thanksgiving<\/p>\n<p>LETTERS-<strong>R\u00a0 r\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0E\u00a0 e\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0 Make sure that your child can make the sounds of the letters, as well as read and write the letters.\u00a0 Sounds are VERY important to reading and writing.<\/p>\n<p>WORDS-<strong>It\u00a0 it\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Is\u00a0 is\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0 (Following on last week&#8217;s word\u00a0<strong>in<\/strong>)\u00a0 Your child should know the\u00a0<em><strong>i<\/strong><\/em><strong>\u00a0 <\/strong>sound, since we\u00a0 had that letter\/sound the week of 10\/22.\u00a0 &#8220;Make the\u00a0<strong><em>i\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>sound.\u00a0 Now make the\u00a0<em><strong>t\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>sound. Slide the sounds together.\u00a0 Do the same for\u00a0<em><strong>is.<\/strong><\/em> &#8221;\u00a0 These words should be very easy for them.\u00a0 Add these word cards to their word card bank.\u00a0 Spread the cards out on the floor.\u00a0 Make a sentence with the words.<\/p>\n<p>WRITING-<em>Informational about\u00a0<strong>TURKEYS.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>PHONICS\/WRITING- Final Sounds.<\/p>\n<p>MATH-Geometry\u00a0 Naming shapes, describing the shapes\u00a0 (&#8220;A rectangle has 4 sides, 2 long sides and 2 short sides, and 4 corners.&#8221;)<\/p>\n<p>Describe a\u00a0<em>triangle, circle<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>We will also work with\u00a0<strong>Positional words.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>SCIENCE-Seasons<\/p>\n<p>Tuesday &amp; Thursday are Evening Conferences\u00a0 Reminder notes were sent home last week. Last evening I met with 8 families and I enjoyed sharing their child&#8217;s successes with their parents.<\/p>\n<p>Wednesday is LIBRARY DAY.<\/p>\n<p>Remember the Weekly Book Bags.\u00a0 The kids are doing a great job with their home reading.\u00a0 I am pleased with their reading and they are moving up in their reading levels.\u00a0 They are each working on different strategies and applying them to reading.\u00a0 I can tell when they read at home.\u00a0 Thank you for your support at home.\u00a0 It shows.\u00a0 Now I know why my private flute teacher could always tell when I had practiced a lot during the week and when I wasn&#8217;t as faithful with daily practice!<\/p>\n<p>WEATHER INFORMATION:<\/p>\n<p>With the snowy weather upon us, students need to\u00a0<strong>wear boots to school<\/strong> and carry their shoes in their backpack. I told them that it it\u00a0<strong>their responsibility<\/strong> to put their shoes in the backpack\u00a0at night.\u00a0 (Parents often get blamed for &#8220;not putting my shoes in my backpack.&#8221;) They will take off their wet boots in the hall and change into their shoes.\u00a0 If they wear wet shoes into the room, they track in wet snow on their shoes, and then sit in the wetness on the carpet.\u00a0 Wet shoes on 24 kids creates a very wet carpet on which to sit!\u00a0 YUK!\u00a0 Even if there is only a little bit of snow on the pavement, students are to still<em><strong> wear their boots into school<\/strong><\/em>.\u00a0 Several mentioned today that they did not have boots that fit.\u00a0 I told them that they could go out this weekend and get a pair&#8230;perfect time.\u00a0 It&#8217;s also a perfect time to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">practice tying shoes!<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Enjoy the snow and all of the wonder it brings.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Mrs. Smith<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Surprise!!!!
