{"id":2584,"date":"2018-10-30T09:55:22","date_gmt":"2018-10-30T13:55:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/smiths\/?p=2584"},"modified":"2018-10-30T09:55:22","modified_gmt":"2018-10-30T13:55:22","slug":"week-of-october-29-2018","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/smiths\/2018\/10\/30\/week-of-october-29-2018\/","title":{"rendered":"Week of October 29, 2018"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Another busy week in Kindergarten!\u00a0 Our theme is still Halloween\/Fall.<\/p>\n<p>LETTERS-<strong>L\u00a0 l\u00a0 \u00a0N\u00a0 n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>WORDS-<strong>Go\u00a0 go\u00a0 \u00a0to<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>READING COMPREHENSION-<strong>Sequencing<\/strong>\u00a0 This is a very important strategy when retelling or writing a story.\u00a0 Things\/events need to be in the correct order.\u00a0 After reading a story, ask your child to\u00a0<strong><em>retell\u00a0<\/em><\/strong> the story to you.\u00a0 Characters should have names, stories have settings (where is the story taking place) and then the\u00a0 events in the order in which they happened.<\/p>\n<p>MATH-We will finish up our first Module in our Math curriculum.\u00a0 We have been working with Counting and Cardinality ( the number of objects in a given set or objects).\u00a0 Your child should be able to count, read and write numbers up to 30.\u00a0 Practice at home.\u00a0 Count as you are walking up steps, out to the car, down a hall, up the driveway, etc.\u00a0 Any place, anytime&#8230;count!\u00a0 Instead of a video game or watching tv, have them write the numbers while they are waiting for dinner.\u00a0 Practice makes perfect.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Wednesday is Halloween!! We are very excited.\u00a0 Students are to come to school in regular school clothes, costumes in a bag.\u00a0 They will have lunch, a noon recess, back with me for about half of an hour and then I will help get them into costumes.\u00a0 They will then go to Music from 12;55-1;40.\u00a0 The All-School Parade will follow at 1:40 outside, around the track.\u00a0 Parents are invited to watch the parade.\u00a0 Bring your cameras!\u00a0 We are very cute!!\u00a0 Afterwards I will bring my kids back into the room to continue our day with some treats from our homeroom moms.<\/p>\n<p>FRIDAY IS HALF DAY FOR STUDENTS-Dismissal will be at 11:45.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Enjoy tomorrow night with the cutest little pumpkins ever!!<\/p>\n<p>Mrs. Smith<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Five Ethics of Life:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Listen-<\/strong>before you speak<\/p>\n<p><strong>Earn<\/strong>-before you spend<\/p>\n<p><strong>Think-<\/strong>before you act<\/p>\n<p><strong>Try-<\/strong>before you quit<\/p>\n<p><strong>Live-<\/strong>before you die&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Another busy week in Kindergarten!\u00a0 Our theme is still Halloween\/Fall.
