{"id":2471,"date":"2018-09-04T09:41:53","date_gmt":"2018-09-04T13:41:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/smiths\/?p=2471"},"modified":"2018-09-04T09:41:53","modified_gmt":"2018-09-04T13:41:53","slug":"week-of-september-4-2018","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/smiths\/2018\/09\/04\/week-of-september-4-2018\/","title":{"rendered":"Week of September 4, 2018"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Good Morning!\u00a0 I hope you all enjoyed your long weekend.\u00a0 I spent the weekend up on Mackinac Island at the Annual Jazz Festival.\u00a0 What a fantastic lineup of musicians.\u00a0 The headliner was Branford Marsalis.\u00a0 Terrifc performances and I love being up there.<\/p>\n<p>We have a full week of things to do in Kindergarten.\u00a0 Here&#8217;s what I have planned&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>SOCIAL STUDIES-Classroom Rules\u00a0 We have created a charter, signed by all, the &#8220;We Will Treat Others The Way We Would Want to be Treated.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>MATH-We will be comparing items to see if they are EXACTLY the same or SIMILAR.<\/p>\n<p>READING-<strong>M\u00a0 m<\/strong>\u00a0 and the sound that the letter makes.\u00a0 Look for things around the house, world that begin with that sound.<\/p>\n<p>WRITING-We will begin writing a story, a NARRATIVE.<\/p>\n<p>DAILY 5- Our Literacy Program\u00a0 We&#8217;ll talk about the 3 ways to READ A BOOK.\u00a0 Ask your child &#8220;What are the 3 ways to read a book?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>SCIENCE will begin next week.<\/p>\n<p>We start our SPECIAL CLASSES this week&#8230;ART, MUSIC, GYM, MEDIA, LIBRARY BOOK CHECK OUT.<\/p>\n<p>GYM-Tues., &amp; Thursday\u00a0 \u00a0GYM SHOES ARE NEEDED\u00a0 \u00a0Please mark Gym days and Library Book days on your calendar to help your child be prepared for class.<\/p>\n<p>MUSIC-WED., &amp; Fri<\/p>\n<p>ART-Mon., &amp; Fri<\/p>\n<p>MEDIA (computer) Tues<\/p>\n<p>LIBRARY BOOK CHECKOUT- Wednesday\u00a0 We will check out a book tomorrow, they will take it home for the week to enjoy, and return it next week to exchange for another book of their choosing.<\/p>\n<p>Although I took many pictures last week of the kids in action in class, only the first day recess picture went through to my computer.\u00a0 Sorry&#8230;I&#8217;ll just keep trying.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/smiths\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/398\/2018\/09\/first-day-2018.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-2472\" src=\"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/smiths\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/398\/2018\/09\/first-day-2018-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/smiths\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/398\/2018\/09\/first-day-2018-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/smiths\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/398\/2018\/09\/first-day-2018.jpg 640w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;re off to a great start.\u00a0 Thank you for your help on the home front.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Mrs. Smith<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Good Morning!\u00a0 I hope you all enjoyed your long weekend.\u00a0 I spent the weekend up on Mackinac Island at the Annual Jazz Festival.\u00a0 What a fantastic lineup of musicians.\u00a0 The headliner was Branford Marsalis.\u00a0 Terrifc performances and I love being up there.
