{"id":2322,"date":"2018-03-16T20:29:58","date_gmt":"2018-03-17T00:29:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/smiths\/?p=2322"},"modified":"2018-03-16T20:29:58","modified_gmt":"2018-03-17T00:29:58","slug":"week-of-march-19-2018","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/smiths\/2018\/03\/16\/week-of-march-19-2018\/","title":{"rendered":"Week of March 19, 2018"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We&#8217;ve had a great week in here!\u00a0 We ended the week with some math games, using dice and playing with a partner.\u00a0 Fun!<\/p>\n<p>Next week&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>READING-We will work with\u00a0<strong><em>rhyming.<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0 Since we missed Dr. Suess&#8217; birthday on March 2 due to a snow day, we will use some of Dr. Suess&#8217; books to enjoy\u00a0<strong><em>rhyming.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>WRITING-<strong><u>\u00a0OPINION<\/u>\u00a0writing\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0 We&#8217;ll begin with making a list of &#8220;Spring Activities.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">together we will write<\/span> about why we like\u00a0<em>spring<\/em> (our opinion).\u00a0 We will use our list from Monday to support our writing, using details from Monday&#8217;s list.<\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">students will write<\/span> about why they like spring and offer 2 or 3 details.<\/p>\n<p>On Thursday, I will <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">conference<\/span> with each student about their writing.\u00a0 We will revise and edit the writing.<\/p>\n<p>On Friday, students will\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>publish<\/em> <\/span>their writing.<\/p>\n<p>The above writing schedule has been my weekly writing schedule all year long_<\/p>\n<p>Monday-introduce lesson\/idea\/theme &#8220;<strong>I&#8221;<\/strong> write<\/p>\n<p>Tuesday-&#8220;<strong>We&#8221;<\/strong> write<\/p>\n<p>Wednesday-&#8220;<strong>You<\/strong>&#8221; write<\/p>\n<p>Thursday-<strong>Revise and Edit<\/strong> Writing<\/p>\n<p>Friday-<strong>Publish<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>MATH-More than, less than\u00a0 \u00a0An awareness of the NUMBER LINE is so necessary.\u00a0 Practice with page numbers in a book.\u00a0 Have your child open up to a give page number.\u00a0 (61)\u00a0 If they open up to 42, see if they know that 62 is\u00a0<strong>greater than<\/strong> 42 and, therefore, need to go farther ahead in the book.\u00a0 Likewise, if they open up to page 67 and you want then to find page 25, do they know which way to go in the book to find page 25?\u00a0 GREATER THAN, LESS THAN concepts<\/p>\n<p>SCIENCE-Weather<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Enjoy your weekend.<\/p>\n<p>Another lesson from Dr. Suess&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<strong>Why<\/strong> fit in when\u00a0<strong>YOU<\/strong> were born to\u00a0<em>stand out?&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We&#8217;ve had a great week in here!\u00a0 We ended the week with some math games, using dice and playing with a partner.\u00a0 Fun!
