{"id":2257,"date":"2017-12-18T16:16:14","date_gmt":"2017-12-18T21:16:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/smiths\/?p=2257"},"modified":"2017-12-18T16:16:14","modified_gmt":"2017-12-18T21:16:14","slug":"week-of-december-18-2017","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/smiths\/2017\/12\/18\/week-of-december-18-2017\/","title":{"rendered":"Week of December 18, 2017"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Our final week before break and here we go&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p>READING-We spent some time today learning some FACTS about reindeer.\u00a0 When I first asked them what they already knew about\u00a0<em>reindeer,\u00a0<\/em>they said things like-&#8220;they are magical&#8221; &#8220;they can fly&#8221;\u00a0 &#8220;they have a red nose&#8221; etc.\u00a0 So we went on a fact-finding mission.\u00a0 After reading some information about\u00a0<em>reindeer,\u00a0<\/em>I typed up some facts and non-factual thoughts and had them place the information accordingly.\u00a0 That&#8217;s coming home tonight.\u00a0 (Ask your child about a\u00a0<em>reindeer&#8217;s\u00a0<\/em>nose.)<\/p>\n<p>We also made a big chart about\u00a0<em>reindeer.\u00a0<\/em>\u00a0\u00a0<strong><em>Reindeer<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0can\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0have\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0are<\/p>\n<p>WRITING-Informational<\/p>\n<p>WORDS-<strong>run\u00a0 \u00a0find\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>LETTERS-We will be working with short vowels this week.\u00a0 Today&#8217;s vowels are\u00a0<strong>a<\/strong> (as in\u00a0<strong>apple)\u00a0<\/strong>and<strong>\u00a0 i (<\/strong>as in\u00a0<strong>igloo).<\/strong>\u00a0 Tomorrow we will make a chart using words with those letters in the words.\u00a0 We need to read carefully!!!<\/p>\n<p>For example, f<strong>a<\/strong>t\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0f<strong>i<\/strong>t\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0t<strong>a<\/strong>n\u00a0 \u00a0t<strong>i<\/strong>n<\/p>\n<p>MATH-We will practice and review counting on up to 10.<\/p>\n<p>For example, :<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Count out 10 spoons and put them all behind your back.\u00a0 \u00a010<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>2. Reach back and pull out some of the spoons.\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a03<\/p>\n<p>3. Have your child tell you how many are still behind your back.\u00a0 \u00a07<\/p>\n<p>4. Then have them tell you the number sentence that goes with the problem.\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a03+7=10<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>On Thursday, students from our STAND (Students Taking A New Direction) group will be selling personalized Santa hats for $2.00.\u00a0 If you would like your child to purchase one, please send in $2.00 on Thursday.\u00a0 They will probably want to wear their hat on Friday for our All-School Sing-a-Long.<\/p>\n<p>I am glad to be back with &#8220;my kids.&#8221;\u00a0 I missed them so much.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Have a good rest of the week.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Mrs. Smith<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Our final week before break and here we go&#8230;.
