{"id":2211,"date":"2017-11-21T10:37:28","date_gmt":"2017-11-21T15:37:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/smiths\/?p=2211"},"modified":"2017-11-21T10:37:28","modified_gmt":"2017-11-21T15:37:28","slug":"week-of-november-27-2017","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/smiths\/2017\/11\/21\/week-of-november-27-2017\/","title":{"rendered":"Week of November 27, 2017"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Another busy week when we return.\u00a0 Here&#8217;s what&#8217;s coming&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>READING-We will start Unit 3\u00a0<em><strong>TRANSPORTATION.<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0 Week 1&#8217;s theme is &#8220;Getting Around Town.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>LETTERS-<strong>R\u00a0 r\u00a0 Q\u00a0 q<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>WORDS-<strong>On\u00a0 on\u00a0 \u00a0Ride\u00a0 ride<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>WRITING-Informational Writing (about modes of Transportation), using\u00a0<strong>details.<\/strong>\u00a0 For example, I can see a ________ (shape)\u00a0 on a _________(color)\u00a0 ______________(vehicle).<\/p>\n<p>I can see a triangle\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0on a red\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0boat.<\/p>\n<p>See how many different kinds of modes of transportation you can brainstorm with your student.\u00a0 Even\u00a0<em>hot air balloons,\u00a0 jet skis, submarines,\u00a0<\/em>are modes of transportation.<\/p>\n<p>MATH-We&#8217;re stepping it up with Math.\u00a0 Work with numbers from 0-30, how to recognize them, write them, tell which number comes next, play a Memory game with 3 x 5 cards with numbers from 15-30, etc.\u00a0 There will be 3 Home Connections that come home next week,<\/p>\n<p>SOCIAL STUDIES-We will move on to\u00a0<em>Wants.\u00a0\u00a0<strong>Wants\u00a0<\/strong>are different that\u00a0<strong>Needs.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This is a season in which we are reminded of the many riches and blessing that we are given daily.\u00a0 I give &#8220;THANKS&#8221; for my KINDERGARTENERS and their families.\u00a0 May you continue to be blessed with good health and happiness.<\/p>\n<p>This year I have been invited to attend the Thanksgiving Day Parade with my sister and brother-in-law.\u00a0 My brother-in-law is one of the clowns in the parade!\u00a0 I will be downtown at 5:00 am on Thanksgiving Day so that he can get into make-up, etc.\u00a0 The clowns each have their own costume, designed and chosen by the clown, depending on how long they have been a clown in the parade.\u00a0 For example,\u00a0 a clown walking from 0-5 years gets a beginner costume that is one piece.\u00a0 Clowns with 5-10 years get a 2 piece costume with 1\/2 silver.\u00a0 Clowns with 10-15 years have a costume that is 1\/2 gold, other half is the colors and fabric of their choice.\u00a0 Clowns with 15+ years get a cape, which comes in handy in those cold winds and those clowns with 20+ years get a blue cape and extra surprises. \ud83d\ude42 Hat choices, colors, creations are another part of the process.
