Yesterday I started a unit. \u00a0I wanted to stay with the school writing genre of Informational. \u00a0I chose\u00a0BEARS.\u00a0<\/em> Together we created a\u00a0KWL chart.<\/strong> That stands for<\/p>\n

K<\/strong> (what do we know about a topic)<\/p>\n

W<\/strong> (what do we want to know\/questions)<\/p>\n

L<\/strong> (what have we learned about the topic-to be completed at the end of the unit)<\/p>\n

It is impressive to see what the students already know about a topic.<\/p>\n

Here’s a picture of yesterday’s chart. \u00a0 A report topic<\/span><\/p>\n

I copied this chart and taped it to their desk so they can use it as a reference when they write their Book Report on Bears!<\/p>\n

Today we reviewed the chart and created a\u00a0word web<\/em><\/strong> from our chart. \u00a0Notes for a report, aka note cards \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

Next we chose a word from the web and made up a sentence using that word. \u00a0We circled the word that we chose from the web. \u00a0aka “rough draft”<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Tomorrow we will begin putting together several sentences to create our Book report about Bears.<\/p>\n

Thursday we will Revise and Edit the writing.<\/p>\n

Friday we will Publish our Book Report and share with our classmates!<\/p>\n

Needless to say, I will not get to all of the Book Bags this week. \u00a0\ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n
