{"id":1839,"date":"2017-03-03T14:07:03","date_gmt":"2017-03-03T19:07:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/smiths\/?p=1839"},"modified":"2017-03-03T14:07:03","modified_gmt":"2017-03-03T19:07:03","slug":"march-6-2017","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/smiths\/2017\/03\/03\/march-6-2017\/","title":{"rendered":"March 6, 2017"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Continuing on with our Unit 7 on WEATHER, our theme this week will be\u00a0<em><strong>SEASONS.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>READING-We&#8217;ll read a book titled\u00a0<strong>&#8220;In the Yard.&#8221;<\/strong> \u00a0We&#8217;ll focus on\u00a0<strong>verbs (action words)<\/strong> which we will use in our writing.<\/p>\n<p>READING STRATEGY-Visualize \u00a0(Seeing the story, setting, events, etc in your mind)<\/p>\n<p>READING SKILL-Identifying\u00a0<strong>setting<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>WRITING-Combining\u00a0<em><strong>Seasons<\/strong><\/em> and\u00a0<strong>verbs<\/strong> from Monday and Tuesday, our prewrite on Wednesday will look something like&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;In <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Fall<\/span>\u00a0(season) I like to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">throw\u00a0<\/span> (verb) a football.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>VOCABULARY-<em>Homophones \u00a0(Words that sound alike but are spelled differently) \u00a0 \u00a0&#8220;pear\/pair &#8220;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>SPELLING WORDS- \u00a0<strong>top \u00a0 hop \u00a0shop \u00a0drop \u00a0my \u00a0play \u00a0on<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>SOCIAL STUDIES-Maps and Map skills all week<\/p>\n<p>MATH-Subtraction within 5 \u00a0Drawing pictures, modeling with Base 10 blocks, manipulatives<\/p>\n<p>-On Thursday &amp; Friday we will work with building\/making numbers with Base 10 blocks and recording the numbers<\/p>\n<p>BOOK BAGS are now coming home. \u00a0Please make sure to have your child read the books with you every night. \u00a0I can really see their reading improving. \u00a0Writing too.<\/p>\n<p>February Reading Lists are due. \u00a0I will accept the lists through Monday (for Pizza Hut Coupons).<\/p>\n<p>On Monday, Nancy Worchester, a ventriolquist from Waco Texas, will offer a program. \u00a0This fantastic lady is sponsored by our PTA. \u00a0Thank you PTA!!!<\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;d like to be a guest reader for March, please come in and sign up on my schedule.<\/p>\n<p>Thank you to Mrs. Beydoun, Mrs. Chami, and Mrs. Moustafa for book donations to our classroom from the Book Fair. \u00a0I read the books today and they loved them!!!<\/p>\n<p>Have a wonderful weekend.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Continuing on with our Unit 7 on WEATHER, our theme this week will be\u00a0SEASONS.
