\u00a0What an interesting experience. \u00a0I took my responsibility as a Juror very seriously and am proud of our Judicial system. \u00a0 Now back to my little loves! \u00a0I really missed them. \u00a0Sometimes I found my mind wandering as to&#8221; what are my kids doing right now??&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>READING-Unit 6 Week 2 of\u00a0<strong>Our Neighborhood. \u00a0<\/strong>This week&#8217;s theme is\u00a0<em><strong>People and Places in our Neighborhood.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>WRITING-Dialogue!!! \u00a0Speech Bubbles and Quotation Marks \u00a0 You can look for them in your bedtime stories.<\/p>\n<p>SPELLING WORDS-<strong>man \u00a0ran \u00a0fan \u00a0said \u00a0go \u00a0to yes \u00a0<\/strong>I have been putting a list of the words in their Book Boxes and they use the list for several in class Literacy activities.<\/p>\n<p>LETTERS-<strong>E \u00a0e \u00a0 \u00a0Y \u00a0y<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>MATH- We will revisit the penny, nickel, and dime. \u00a0We&#8217;ll make trades with the coins. \u00a0Practice at home.<\/p>\n<p>SCIENCE-<strong>Land Forms\u00a0<\/strong> We will begin with\u00a0<strong>oceans and lakes.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Wednesday we will add\u00a0<strong>Mountains and Plains. \u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>Add &#8220;Where do sand, water, and soil lie?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>SPELLING TEST went very well today! \u00a0I wanted to start them with easy words, both familiar and patterns from word family &#8220;an.&#8221; \u00a0Thanks for helping them study on the home front. \u00a0They felt proud. \u00a0Beginning with next week&#8217;s list, I will be looking for ALL letters to be written correctly. \u00a0No capital letters in the middle of words, letters going in the correct direction,\u00a0<strong>y, g, q, p, j\u00a0<\/strong>dipping below the line, etc. \u00a0Practice writing them at home with a line. \u00a0Their name also needs to be written neatly and correctly&#8230;only 1 capital letter in their name and all letters on (or below if appropriate).<\/p>\n<p>In case you were wondering, I work with their writing in a specific routine that I have developed through the years with young writers.<\/p>\n<p>On Mondays I introduce a new idea, concept, or build on one from the previous week. \u00a0For example, last week I introduced\u00a0<strong>dialogue.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On Tuesdays we create a writing together. \u00a0Last week it was writing\u00a0<strong>dialogue<\/strong> between 2 charachers.<\/p>\n<p>On Wednesdays they write a piece themselves, using the skill taught on Monday and Tuesday. \u00a0This is called\u00a0<em><strong>Prewrite.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>On Thursdays I conference with them about their writing. \u00a0This is called\u00a0<em><strong>Revise and Edit.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>On Fridays they publish their writing and share with the class. \u00a0This is called\u00a0<em><strong>Publishing.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>As you can see, this process is how you would have learned to write your papers in school. \u00a0It does take a lot of time and they each want to share their published work, which also takes time. \u00a0But is is worth the investment!!<\/p>\n<p>Next Monday I will introduce\u00a0<strong>quotation marks.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Have a glorious week!<\/p>\n<p>Mrs. Smith<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<em>No matter how cool,<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>talented,educated, <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>or rich you think you are,<\/em><\/p>\n<p>how you treat people<\/p>\n<p>tells all.<\/p>\n<p>Integrity is everything.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m back!!!!
