{"id":1810,"date":"2017-01-20T16:01:33","date_gmt":"2017-01-20T21:01:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/smiths\/?p=1810"},"modified":"2017-01-20T16:01:33","modified_gmt":"2017-01-20T21:01:33","slug":"january-23-2017","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/smiths\/2017\/01\/20\/january-23-2017\/","title":{"rendered":"January 23, 2017"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Another busy, happy week in Kindergarten , with some learning along the way!<\/p>\n<p>We talked for a little bit about today&#8217;s &#8220;special event.&#8221; \u00a0Only one student knew that we were getting a new President today. \u00a0WE talked about Presidential terms, reminded them about last November&#8217;s election, etc. \u00a0You might get some questions at home tonight.<\/p>\n<p>We are very involved with researching and learning about some ENDANGERED ANIMALS. \u00a0We have made an informational book each day this week about an ENDANGERED ANIMAL. \u00a0Monday we learned a lot of interesting facts about a\u00a0<strong>Koala. \u00a0<\/strong>Tuesday&#8217;s animal was a\u00a0<strong>rhino. \u00a0<\/strong>Wednesday was the\u00a0<strong>Sea Turtle\u00a0<\/strong>and yesterday was the\u00a0<strong>Siberian Tiger. \u00a0<\/strong>Today we put some of the information on a chart and we will use the chart next week to write about one of the animals. \u00a0Research, write, retrieve information, retell&#8230;lots going on in here.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s what&#8217;s coming up this week&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>READING-Endangered Animals<\/p>\n<p>WRITING-Writing 3 complete sentences about an animal.<\/p>\n<p>LETTERS-<strong>D d \u00a0 K k<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>WORDS-<strong>help \u00a0by \u00a0was \u00a0now<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>MATH-measuring with standard (rulers, tape measures, yard sticks) and non-standard tools (Cubes, hands)<\/p>\n<p>-We will talk about the penny and the nickel.<\/p>\n<p>SCIENCE-Magnets!!<\/p>\n<p>Next Friday, 1\/27 my class will be taking the Reading Part of \u00a0NWEA test. \u00a0Please make sure your child is well fed that morning and in attendance. \ud83d\ude42 \u00a0Math NWEA will be Monday, 1\/30\/2017.<\/p>\n<p>Also, Friday is AM ONLY for students. \u00a0Teachers will be posting grades in the PM.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Looking ahead&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Since we have been counting every day since our first day together in September, I like to celebrate the 100th day of school with my kids. \u00a0Let&#8217;s dress up as a 100 year old person! \u00a0I thought I&#8217;s give you some lead time to &#8220;borrow&#8221; Grandma&#8217;s glasses, a cane, etc. \u00a0Have fun with it-please don&#8217;t go and buy anything. \u00a0It&#8217;s just meant to be a fun way to celebrate the 100th day of Kindergarten.<\/p>\n<p>Have a great weekend!<\/p>\n<p>Mrs. Smith<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>&#8220;If words come out of the heart, they will enter the heart.&#8221;- Rumi<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Another busy, happy week in Kindergarten , with some learning along the way!
