{"id":1764,"date":"2016-12-09T17:21:14","date_gmt":"2016-12-09T22:21:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/smiths\/?p=1764"},"modified":"2016-12-09T17:21:14","modified_gmt":"2016-12-09T22:21:14","slug":"week-of-december-12-2016","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/smiths\/2016\/12\/09\/week-of-december-12-2016\/","title":{"rendered":"Week of December 12, 2016"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Another fun week in Kindergarten! \u00a0We finished up our first week of our\u00a0<strong>Food\u00a0<\/strong>unit. \u00a0We have been talking about\u00a0<strong>From Where Food Comes<\/strong>&#8230;Farmers grow wheat, wheat is ground up, wheat is made into dough, dough is made into pizza dough, and we bake and eat the pizza dough! \u00a0So, we made our version of pizzas with mini bagels for the dough, cream cheese for the sauce (because not all KIndergarteners like tomato sauce) and the toppings were red peppers, which they ate like they were candy! \u00a0Just about all &#8220;ordered&#8221; a second one.&#8221; \u00a0thank you Mrs. Regan for running to the store for the peppers this morning. \u00a0I forgot those last night in my haste to get home with the roads like they were. \u00a0The kids were simply adorable, making and eating their pizzas! \u00a0I took a picture of proud Sophia to show you but my computer is giving me issues today.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s what is coming up next week&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Our unit theme is\u00a0<strong>&#8220;What&#8217;s for dinner?&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>COMPREHENSION STRATEGY-\u00a0<strong>Summarize<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>SKILL-<strong>Making Inferences<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>WORDS-<strong>Have \u00a0have \u00a0Will \u00a0will<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>LETTERS-<strong>N n \u00a0 C c<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>WRITING-We will be writing sentences about ordering from a\u00a0<strong><em>menu.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For example,\u00a0<strong>I will have __________. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>First we will create a list of menu items. \u00a0Next we will pretend we are ordering by saying the sentence (Oral Language). \u00a0Then we will share our sentence with our &#8220;Elbow Buddy&#8221; (person sitting next to them). \u00a0Finally we will write the sentences. \u00a0They should be able to write 2-3 sentences. \u00a0They already know the words\u00a0<strong>I \u00a0will have. \u00a0<\/strong>The only word they will need is the word from our &#8220;menu list.&#8221; \u00a0Attention to capital letters at the beginning, SPACES between words, and punctuation at the end will be our focus. \u00a0\ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p>MATH-Adding 1 \u00a0 Adding 2 \u00a0Simple Addition story problems, with pictures and then without pictures. \u00a0Make up some as you drive to the grocery store,bank, pick up siblings from basketball, etc..
