{"id":1489,"date":"2016-04-22T13:33:33","date_gmt":"2016-04-22T17:33:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/smiths\/?p=1489"},"modified":"2016-04-25T09:33:50","modified_gmt":"2016-04-25T13:33:50","slug":"week-of-april-25-2016","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/smiths\/2016\/04\/22\/week-of-april-25-2016\/","title":{"rendered":"Week of April 25, 2016"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We have had a wonderful 2 weeks exploring the\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em><strong>Ocean. \u00a0<\/strong><\/em><\/span> The students are quite knowledgeable about\u00a0<em><strong>ocean fish, ocean plants, and ocean animals. \u00a0<\/strong><\/em>Today, my class looked like a high school English class! \u00a0They used their notes from this week to write 3 sentences about an ocean fish or animal. \u00a0their writing is fantastic! \u00a0They had to write about where the fish\/animal lives, what the fish\/animal eats, and is it a fish or an animal. \u00a0As they used their notes, they looked like they were writing a term paper. \u00a0Lots of thought and <strong>independent<\/strong> work. \u00a0Not every student is writing about the same fish\/animal.\u00a0 \u00a0Then there are the mechanics of writing&#8230;capital letters at the beginning of sentences and punctuation at the end of sentences. \u00a0Whew..there is a lot going on in here.<\/p>\n<p>We are now creating a chart that shows the 4 different depths of ocean waters and the animals that live in each zone.
