READING-We will start a new unit! \u00a0Unit 7 WEATHER<\/p>\n

Week 1 of the unit is\u00a0KINDS OF WEATHER.<\/strong><\/p>\n

COMPREHENSION STRATEGY-Visualize<\/p>\n

COMPREHENSION SKILL-Identify Main Idea and Details<\/p>\n

WORDS-This \u00a0 this \u00a0 \u00a0Do \u00a0do<\/strong><\/p>\n

LETTERS-E \u00a0e \u00a0<\/strong>(short e sound, like in “egg”)<\/p>\n

SPELLING WORDS-bed \u00a0red \u00a0 fled \u00a0led \u00a0this \u00a0do \u00a0weather<\/strong><\/p>\n

MATH-We will be working with the 100 chart, filling in missing numbers, making patterns, etc. \u00a0You can make your own grid at home so your child can practice numbers from 0-100.<\/p>\n

Keep counting money too! \u00a0Dimes, nickels, and pennies…count, count, count.<\/p>\n

SCIENCE-We will work with Landforms, mountains, rivers, etc.<\/p>\n

Looking ahead…<\/p>\n

Next week (Feb. 22-26) our reading unit theme will be\u00a0SEASONS.<\/strong> \u00a0Students will have a home work assignment of making a diorama of their favorite season. \u00a0Shoe boxes work great for the dioramas. \u00a0I will talk with the students next week and the dioramas will be due Thurs., Feb. 25. \u00a0More details next week.<\/p>\n

Also, Fri., Feb 26 will be the 100th day of Kindergarten. \u00a0I thought the kids might enjoy dressing up as a 100 year old person. \ud83d\ude42 \u00a0Please don’t go out and buy anything special for this. Just wanted to let you start think about this…me too!<\/p>\n
