{"id":1398,"date":"2016-01-29T16:24:06","date_gmt":"2016-01-29T21:24:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/smiths\/?p=1398"},"modified":"2016-01-29T16:24:06","modified_gmt":"2016-01-29T21:24:06","slug":"week-of-february-1-2016-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/smiths\/2016\/01\/29\/week-of-february-1-2016-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Week of February 1, 2016  #2"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As of today, we have completed the first semester of Kindergarten. \u00a0Didn&#8217;t that go quickly?<\/p>\n<p>Here are a few things for next week&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>JANUARY BOOK-IT CALENDARS are due on Monday, 2\/1\/16. \u00a0Remember that Book Titles need to be recorded on the back of the calendar, not just the date colored in on the front.<\/p>\n<p>Second Semester will bring\u00a0<em>WEEKLY SPELLING TESTS.<\/em> \u00a0I will post the words each week and the tests will be on Fridays. \u00a0Our first\u00a0<em>Spelling Test\u00a0<\/em>will be\u00a0<strong>February 5, 2016. \u00a0<\/strong>Of course, we will begin with an easy start. \u00a0\ud83d\ude42 \u00a0To give the students a chance to practice the words, you can go to\u00a0<strong>SpellingCity.com<\/strong> and find my list.<\/p>\n<p>Since we will be working with the\u00a0<strong>&#8220;at&#8221;<\/strong> family, the words will be\u00a0<strong> \u00a0mat \u00a0 \u00a0hat \u00a0 flat \u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><strong>the \u00a0you \u00a0for<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I will choose some words from a word family (this week is the &#8220;at&#8221; family), one word will have a blend at the beginning (&#8220;flat&#8221;), and the remaining words will be sight words (words that they should know by heart).<\/p>\n<p>Today we worked with ten rods and ones&#8217;
