We will move on to Week 2 of our\u00a0NEIGHBORHOOD\u00a0<\/strong>unit. \u00a0This week’s theme is\u00a0People and Places<\/span>.<\/em><\/p>\n

We’ll read a story called\u00a0Bus Stops.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

WORDS-\u00a0For \u00a0for \u00a0 You \u00a0you<\/strong><\/p>\n

LETTER-\u00a0D \u00a0d<\/strong><\/p>\n

WRITING-Directions \u00a0 \u00a0First, Next Last \u00a0 We’ll make a book about\u00a0First \u00a0Next \u00a0Last.<\/strong><\/p>\n

MATH-We will continue to work on “tens and ones.”<\/p>\n

For example, “16 \u00a0is _?__tens and ___?__ones. \u00a0 16 is \u00a01 \u00a0<\/strong>10 \u00a0and\u00a06\u00a0<\/strong>ones.”<\/p>\n

“10 is\u00a01\u00a0<\/strong>10 and\u00a00\u00a0<\/strong>ones.”<\/p>\n

SOCIAL STUDIES-Map making! \u00a0Yesterday we made a map of our classroom and it turned out great! \u00a0In fact, they did such a wonderful job on following my directions and using the Compass Rose, that I told them I wanted to keep them for a few days. \u00a0We even made desks for each student and labeled the desks with initials. \u00a0Lots of math with this map making.<\/p>\n

SCIENCE-We will work with\u00a0PHYSICAL SCIENCE.<\/em> \u00a0We’ll start with\u00a0Landforms (mountains and rivers). \u00a0<\/em>They will be working in groups to create a map of a town and we will add things to the “neighborhood” each day. \u00a0Monday we will create the streets and add houses. \u00a0Tuesday we’ll add some Neighborhood Features (Police station, Firehouse, etc), Wednesday we’ll add on Landforms, and I’ll see what else they will want to add on Thursday\/Friday.<\/p>\n
