{"id":1356,"date":"2016-01-08T21:07:39","date_gmt":"2016-01-09T02:07:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/smiths\/?p=1356"},"modified":"2016-01-08T21:07:39","modified_gmt":"2016-01-09T02:07:39","slug":"january-11-2016","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/smiths\/2016\/01\/08\/january-11-2016\/","title":{"rendered":"January 11, 2016"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Another week has flown by! \u00a0 These next two weeks will look a little different.<\/p>\n<p>READING \u00a0 WRITING \u00a0MATH \u00a0 SCIENCE \u00a0 SOCIAL STUDIES-<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Endangered Animals<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>I will combine all of the content areas as we explore\u00a0<strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">ENDANGERED ANIMALS.\u00a0<\/span><\/strong> \u00a0These areas of study will result in a research project. \u00a0We will discuss what we know about\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Endangered Animals,<\/span> read about them, formulate questions about <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Endangered Animals,\u00a0<\/span>use the Internet to gather new information, find and make pictures to go with our project, and put it all together to share with each other! \u00a0I am excited about this opportunity for new discoveries. \u00a0We will be working in one whole group and in small groups ( so we&#8217;ll have to use our good communication skills \ud83d\ude42 \u00a0)<\/p>\n<p>LETTER-\u00a0<strong>F \u00a0f \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>WORDS-<strong>play \u00a0has \u00a0because \u00a0 \u00a0<\/strong>Both &#8220;play&#8221; and &#8220;has&#8221; the students have been writing for several months so they words are not new to them. \u00a0&#8220;Because&#8221; is new and I am adding it because they will need to use it next week for their District Writing Assessment. \u00a0They will need to write their\u00a0<em>opinion\u00a0<\/em>about a topic or question.<\/p>\n<p>MATH-We will be exploring and measuring with a &#8220;foot&#8221; (cut out). \u00a0We will measure with the &#8220;foot&#8221; cutout \u00a0as well as a ruler. \u00a0(Standard and Non-Standard Measuring)<\/p>\n<p>SCIENCE and SOCIAL STUDIES-Lots and lots of study going on here. \u00a0We will be:<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>-generating a list of some Endangered Animals<\/p>\n<p>-appearance-Does it have feathers? wings? skin? fur? scales? a beak? fins? gills? legs?<\/p>\n<p>-classifying \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Is it a bird? \u00a0Animal? \u00a0Reptile? \u00a0How do you know?<\/p>\n<p>-habitats \u00a0Where does it live? \u00a0in water, a nest, a forest, a cave?<\/p>\n<p>-carnivore (meat eater) or herbivore (plant eater)? \u00a0What does it eat?<\/p>\n<p>-On what\u00a0<em>continent\u00a0<\/em>does it live?<\/p>\n<p>-What can we do to help the animals on the Endangered Animals List?<\/p>\n<p>I am looking forward to exploring and creating this project with my students. \u00a0I know they will enjoy the process as well as the product.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Please remember the BOOK BAGS. \u00a0As a reminder:<\/p>\n<p>Monday-Sarah \u00a0Eman \u00a0Mahdi \u00a0Noor \u00a0Lana<\/p>\n<p>Tuesday-Adriana \u00a0Jonah \u00a0Ameer \u00a0Alina \u00a0Mia<\/p>\n<p>Wednesday-Juliette \u00a0Kareem \u00a0Jordan \u00a0Derek \u00a0Emily<\/p>\n<p>Thursday-Khalil \u00a0Keelan \u00a0Joelle \u00a0Lily \u00a0Nabil<\/p>\n<p>Friday-Zahra \u00a0Avalina \u00a0Jacob \u00a0Hussein \u00a0Zachary \u00a0Hassan<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>**<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">WEDNESDAYS ARE LIBRARY DAYS<\/span>**<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Looking Ahead-<\/p>\n<p>Monday, Jan 18 NO SCHOOL \u00a0 Martin Luther King, Jr. Day<\/p>\n<p>Wednesday, Jan.20 is LATE START<\/p>\n<p>Have a great weekend! \u00a0Read and study those words!!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Mrs. Smith<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Another week has flown by! \u00a0 These next two weeks will look a little different.
