{"id":1332,"date":"2015-12-11T11:43:59","date_gmt":"2015-12-11T16:43:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/smiths\/?p=1332"},"modified":"2015-12-11T11:43:59","modified_gmt":"2015-12-11T16:43:59","slug":"week-of-dec-14-2015","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/smiths\/2015\/12\/11\/week-of-dec-14-2015\/","title":{"rendered":"Week of Dec., 14, 2015"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Last week of school for December&#8211;Yikes!!<\/p>\n<p>READING-We will finish our unit about\u00a0<strong>FOOD.<\/strong> Unit 4, Week 3 is about\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>FOOD TRADITIONS.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>STRATEGY-<strong>SUMMARIZE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>SKILL-<strong>MAKING INFERENCES<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>WRITING-A List (A Menu)<\/p>\n<p>LETTERS-<strong>C \u00a0c \u00a0N \u00a0n\u00a0<\/strong> \u00a0(Review week)<\/p>\n<p>WORDS-<strong>Have \u00a0have \u00a0To \u00a0to \u00a0<\/strong>(Review week)<\/p>\n<p><strong>OPPOSITES<\/strong>-We&#8217;ll explore Opposites (also known as ANTONYMS)<\/p>\n<p>During the break, you might want to go back through my blogs and find the letters and words on which we have focused since September. \u00a0Remember that as we add new letters, we can make new words with letters we already know. \u00a0For example, in September, the first letter we learned was\u00a0<strong>m.\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0The next week we learned\u00a0<strong>a.<\/strong> \u00a0Put them together and you have the little word\u00a0<strong>am. \u00a0<\/strong>Lots of possibilities exist.<\/p>\n<p>Students should know all of the letters and words that we have had each week. \u00a0Since I write with them EVERY day since the first day of school, they have been writing many, many more words too, which serves to increase their writing selection of words.<\/p>\n<p>PROJECTS-I hope you are enjoying the projects that are coming home. \u00a0Lots of math, problem solving, following directions, and opportunities to use those fine motor skills are involved. \u00a0More to come to help you with house decorations!<\/p>\n<p>HEALTH NEWS-I have a case of Strep Throat in here. \u00a0If your child is complaining of a sore throat or seems &#8220;under the weather,&#8221; you might want to check it out.<\/p>\n<p>REMINDERS&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>*Please help your child remember to bring in their Book Bag on their appointed day. \u00a0The extra time spent reading at home sure is a boost for young readers. \u00a0Thanks for your help on the home front.<\/p>\n<p>*GYM \u00a0days are Wednesdays and Fridays. \u00a0Gym Shoes are required for them to participate in gym class.<\/p>\n<p>*LIBRARY DAYS are Wednesdays. \u00a0Library Books due on Wednesdays.<\/p>\n<p>I think that&#8217;s all for now. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p>Enjoy this unseasonally warm weather. \u00a0My husband golfed yesterday and thinks he&#8217;ll be out again tomorrow.
