Parents, thanks for your support.<\/p>\n<p>My November Students of the Month are Jason Anderson and Fatimah Alharbi. \u00a0Congratulations!<\/p>\n<p>Important this week&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>TUESDAY 11-5 \u00a0NO SCHOOL FOR STUDENTS \u00a0District Professional Development for all teachers<\/p>\n<p>WEDNESDAY-Library Book due \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Please have your child (responsibility) pack her\/his book the night before so they can check out a new one.<\/p>\n<p>FRIDAY \u00a01-8 \u00a0Half Day for students \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a011:45 \u00a0Dismissal \u00a0 \u00a0End of first card marking<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Here is a peek at our week&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>READING-We will finish our Unit about Friends. \u00a0Please continue to listen to your child read at home. \u00a0It is so important to help them read with\u00a0<strong>accuracy\u00a0<\/strong>and<strong> fluency.<\/strong> \u00a0In addition, it does wonders for their confidence. \u00a0Continue to work with PREDICTING when you are reading with your child. \u00a0Look for clues that can\u00a0<strong>predict\u00a0<\/strong>what will come next or what will happen at the end of a story. \u00a0I asked the students to\u00a0<strong>predict<\/strong> what color Mr. Denison would wear to school last Friday. \u00a0They <strong>predicted<\/strong> green. \u00a0When he walked in wearing green, I asked them what clues they had used to make their\u00a0<strong>predictions<\/strong>? \u00a0Good thinkers, Kindergarteners!<\/p>\n<p>WRITING-This week&#8217;s lesson focuses on writing lists. \u00a0You can allow your child to really be involved with writing lists at home. \u00a0Let them write a few grocery items down is a list. \u00a0Or have them write a list of 3 or 4 things they need to do this week. \u00a0Many students can stretch out a whole word spelling it! \u00a0If not, they can at least get the beginning and ending sounds and letters. \u00a0Please make sure to let them say\/stretch the word. \u00a0Don&#8217;t jump in and make the sounds for them&#8230;they need to hear the sounds themselves. \u00a0Then they will connect the letters that goes with the sounds.<\/p>\n<p>MATH-We will continue with number recognition and playing a game with Dominoes. \u00a0We will also work with more than, less than, with a game called Monster Squeeze!<\/p>\n<p>SOCIAL STUDIES-This week we will extend our &#8220;Friends&#8221; unit to the community. \u00a0We will read a non-fiction article about Helping Hands. \u00a0How can we help friends in our community? \u00a0How can we be responsible, thoughtful of others, kind?<\/p>\n<p>SCIENCE-Earth Science<\/p>\n<p>Of course, READ TO SELF and READ TO SOMEONE is included every day. \u00a0Their stamina for reading and staying focused with their individual reading is increasing! \u00a0They are proud of it too!<\/p>\n<p>Have a great week and remember to vote on Tuesday!<\/p>\n<p>Mrs. Smith<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>November has arrived and we continue to move along. \u00a0First report card marking will end this week. \u00a0Parent Teacher Conferences will be November 14, 20, and 21 and I look forward to sharing your child&#8217;s progress with you at that time. \u00a0I will send home a reminder of your time slot.
