{"id":1893,"date":"2017-10-30T10:11:52","date_gmt":"2017-10-30T14:11:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/shenew\/?p=1893"},"modified":"2017-10-30T10:11:52","modified_gmt":"2017-10-30T14:11:52","slug":"week-of-october-30-november-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/shenew\/2017\/10\/30\/week-of-october-30-november-3\/","title":{"rendered":"Week of October 30-November 3"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>4th grade Spelling words (\/ir\/, \/er\/, \/ur\/ sounds):\u00a0 serpent, sternly, swirl, blur, purpose, curve, carpenter, turnip, twirl, curl<\/p>\n<p>Content words:\u00a0 Upper Peninsula, Dearborn, Michigan, United States, plains<\/p>\n<p>5th grade Spelling words (homophones):\u00a0 there, their, they&#8217;re, hour, our, threw, through, passed, past, weather, whether, which, witch<\/p>\n<p>Content words:\u00a0 opposite, reference<\/p>\n<p>Spelling Tests in Google Classroom do not allow parents to see what their child spelled incorrectly.\u00a0 It only allows you to see what their final score is.\u00a0 As a parent, I know that I like to be able to see what my child got wrong.\u00a0 Therefore, I will be going back to our original way of taking written spelling tests starting this Friday.\u00a0 Sometimes technology isn&#8217;t the best way of doing things:)<\/p>\n<p>Tomorrow, October 31st is our Halloween Party.\u00a0 The following families have already signed up on our SignUp Genius to donate food\/items:\u00a0 Khan, Davis, Stratford, Aljahmi, Kerr, Jammoul.\u00a0 Thank you to these families.\u00a0 Please do NOT send in any food items unless you are one of the families that signed up.\u00a0 We will not have time or room in our stomachs to eat anything extra.\u00a0 If you did not sign up for this party, you will have the opportunity to sign up for future parties.\u00a0 Your child may bring in goody bags or candy to pass out to the classroom.\u00a0 Students will NOT be able to deliver treats\/candy to other classrooms or teachers.\u00a0 If you would like to deliver a special treat to another teacher, you will have to do so after school.\u00a0 Students will be watching a Halloween movie, enjoy our treats, and do a small craft project.\u00a0 Students are allowed to wear costumes to school.\u00a0 Please make sure there are no weapons, masks, or excessive face paint.\u00a0 Students will not be able to change into their costumes at school, so it is important for all students in our class to get dressed in the morning and wear their costumes to school.\u00a0 I will post a class photo of the students in the costumes at the end of the day.<\/p>\n<p>5th grade Band is every Monday and Wednesday.\u00a0 Monday is woodwinds at 12:45 (flutes, clarinets, saxophones) and brass at 1:30 (trumpets and trombones).\u00a0 Wednesday is strings (violins) at 12:45 and percussion (drums) at 1:30.\u00a0 It is important that your child bring their instrument to school on the correct day.<\/p>\n<p>Reminder that this Friday, November 3rd is a half day of school.\u00a0 School will be dismissed at 11:45 a.m.<\/p>\n<p>The end of the first marking period is this Friday, November 3rd.\u00a0 Please make sure your child has turned in all late\/missing assignments by Friday morning.\u00a0 Missing assignments will effect students&#8217;
