{"id":1885,"date":"2017-10-23T10:08:33","date_gmt":"2017-10-23T14:08:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/shenew\/?p=1885"},"modified":"2017-10-23T10:08:33","modified_gmt":"2017-10-23T14:08:33","slug":"week-of-october-23-27","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/shenew\/2017\/10\/23\/week-of-october-23-27\/","title":{"rendered":"Week of October 23-27"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>4th grade Spelling (words with \/ure\/):\u00a0 lecture, seizure, leisure, moisture, puncture, measure, mixture, sculpture, rupture, assure<\/p>\n<p>Content words:\u00a0 place value, tens, hundreds, thousands, ten thousands<\/p>\n<p>5th grade Spelling words (Consonant diagraphs \/ch\/, \/th\/, \/ph\/, \/wh\/, \/sh\/):\u00a0 abolish, whimper, graphic, emphasis, although, approach, southern, hyphen, establish, shatter<\/p>\n<p>Content words:\u00a0 advise, complex, altitude, suspicious, popular<\/p>\n<p>Last week the spelling test was given on Google Classroom.\u00a0 We will continue to try it this way for a few weeks to see how it works out.\u00a0 Unfortunately, there is no way for the Google Form to let you know what words your child spelled incorrectly.\u00a0 You can go onto Google Classroom to find the total correct out of 100%.\u00a0 Any student who receives below a passing grade (70%) on a weekly spelling test will be required to do spelling homework the following week.\u00a0 Spelling homework is a list of 9 choices and students must pick 3 activities to complete at home and turn in on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Both 4th and 5th grade have finished their units in Math about comparing numbers.\u00a0 4th graders will begin discussing addition and subtraction up to 4 digits and 5th graders will begin discussing multiplication and division using multiply digits.<\/p>\n<p>5th graders have a S.S. quiz tomorrow (Tuesday) with Mr. DeSantis.\u00a0 He sent home a sheet of vocabulary words that students need to know on the quiz last Friday.\u00a0 Students should bring home their S.S. notebooks to help them study.<\/p>\n<p>4th grade students have an assignment for Science with Mrs. Majetic on ReadWorks.\u00a0 Students will go to www.readworks.org.\u00a0 If they need to enroll with a class code, the code for Mrs. Majetic&#8217;s science is\u00a0\u00a0XXPNBT.\u00a0 Please read the article and answer the questions on a computer or tablet.<\/p>\n<p>There is NO book check out this week due to the Book Fair being in the Media Center.\u00a0 Our class will attend the Book Fair this Thursday, October 26th at 10:00 a.m.\u00a0 Please make sure to send money to school with your child on Thursday if they plan on purchasing items.<\/p>\n<p>Snow School&#8217;s Halloween Celebration is Thursday, October 26th from 6:00-7:30 p.m.\u00a0 There will be a costume contest with $1.00 entry fee.\u00a0 Please NO MASKS OR FAKE WEAPONS.\u00a0 Music, activities, and games will be in the gym and the bake sale will be in the cafeteria.\u00a0 A rack will be provided outside the office for baked good donations.
