When joining a Google Hangouts video chat meeting from a Chromebook or computer, your child must first be logged in to their Dearborn Public School District email.  After they have logged in to their email, you will open a new tab or window to get to Google Hangouts. The specific directions are below:<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

STUDENT DIRECTIONS FOR ASSESSING EMAIL:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
  1.  Go to www.dearbornschools.org<\/a> homepage. <\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    *Use Google Chrome.\u00a0 <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Safari, Firefox, & Internet Explorer will not work for Google Hangouts.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    1. Click on Student Portal<\/strong>.<\/li>
    2. Under \u201cUseful links,\u201d click on Student District Email\/Google Login<\/strong>.<\/li>
    3. Enter your child\u2019s email username and password. (This is the same information they use to log on to their Chromebooks at school, most students have these numbers memorized.)  Message your child\u2019s teacher if you need this information.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

      STUDENT DIRECTIONS FOR GOOGLE HANGOUT:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
      1. You must be logged in to your school account (Dearborn Schools).<\/li>
      2. In a web browser, enter https:\/\/meet.google.com<\/a>.<\/li>
      3. Click Join a meeting.<\/li>
      4. Enter the meeting nickname that your child\u2019s teacher assigned.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

        *If you are going to use a phone to join our Google Hangouts session, you have to d<\/strong>ownload the Hangouts Meet APP prior to the session.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

        Google Hangouts Rules (please go over these with your child before our first session)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        1.  Be prepared and on time.<\/li>
        2. Turn on your camera.  Remember, we can see you so dress appropriately!<\/li>
        3. Raise your hand and wait to be called on when you want to speak.<\/li>
        4. Avoid acting silly and being a distraction to others.<\/li>
        5. Use the chat only to ask important questions.<\/li>
