{"id":702,"date":"2016-12-19T09:00:37","date_gmt":"2016-12-19T14:00:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/shakarchi\/?p=702"},"modified":"2016-12-19T07:48:21","modified_gmt":"2016-12-19T12:48:21","slug":"702","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/shakarchi\/2016\/12\/19\/702\/","title":{"rendered":"Weekly Update"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" id=\"img\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/dl10.glitter-graphics.net\/pub\/1613\/1613950zw0sx819d8.gif\" width=\"209\" height=\"195\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Greeting,<\/p>\n<p>Hope you and your families are staying warm in this super cold weather.<\/p>\n<p>The week before the break tends to be a little busy, so here is a little preview of this week&#8217;s learning objectives. and upcoming events. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p>Reading: we are going to focus on compare and contrast using non-fiction texts.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=dyYzXlTNt4E\"><strong>Compare and Contrast Video\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=dyYzXlTNt4E<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Writing: Informational writing will compare and contrast two animals.<\/p>\n<p>Spelling: List #11: Double Consonants.<\/p>\n<p>We will have the spelling test on <strong>Thursday<\/strong> instead the usual time-\u00a0Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Math: We are still working on unit 4.\u00a0 A study guide will be coming home this week.\u00a0 We will have a test after the break. \u00a0In addition, please have students\u00a0practice the following tables: 2,3,4, and 5. During the break, please have students tables up to #12.<\/p>\n<p>NWEA: After the break, students will be taking the NWEA reading, language, math, and science tests.\u00a0 We do practice in class, however it will be very helpful that\u00a0your child practices\u00a0daily\u00a0on Mobymax to review math and reading skills.\u00a0These test taking skills will be helpful during the up coming WIDA and M-Step assessments too.<\/p>\n<p>Winter Break Assignments:<\/p>\n<p>Reading Logs\/Winter Break Reading Assignment: I will be sending the January reading logs home.\u00a0 Also, I\u00a0will be asking students to spend at least\u00a015 minutes daily\u00a0reading and answering questions from Mobymax and to log it in their January logs.\u00a0Please feel free to have your son\/daughter to read from books too.<\/p>\n<p>Math Winter Assignment: Also, I am assigning fifteen minutes for math practice on Mobymax and Frontrow.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Please help your to practice reading and \u00a0math on the computer.\u00a0 If you don&#8217;t have an access to a computer, please let me know to make you some copies of math and reading.\u00a0<\/strong> <\/em><\/p>\n<p>Wednesday: Late Start December 21st.<\/p>\n<p>Holiday Concert: Friday 9:00-10:00. \u00a0All parents are invited to attend. \u00a0We hope to see you there and Happy Holidays to all and have a Wonderful New Year!<\/p>\n<p>Thanks for your help and support!\u00a0 Have a great week.<\/p>\n<p>Mrs. Shakarchi and students in room 217<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Greeting, Hope you and your families are staying warm in this super cold weather.
