{"id":576,"date":"2016-10-10T09:00:53","date_gmt":"2016-10-10T13:00:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/shakarchi\/?p=576"},"modified":"2016-10-09T21:09:54","modified_gmt":"2016-10-10T01:09:54","slug":"576","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iblog.dearbornschools.org\/shakarchi\/2016\/10\/10\/576\/","title":{"rendered":"Weekly Objectives"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Good Morning,<\/p>\n<p>Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the nice and cool fall.<\/p>\n<p>Homework:<br \/>\nWe celebrated our first Homework Club Reward together with a yummy donuts from Tim Horton.  All students who had three or less strikes were invited to the celebration.  It was an outstanding 100% participation.<br \/>\nYou are an important part of your child&#8217;s success, so thanks to you too.<br \/>\nJust a reminder that both reading and math homework must be present to count.  If either one is missing, students receive a strike and a survey to complete (three strikes only allowed per month).  In addition, late homework must be completed and returned the next day.  <\/p>\n<p>Science:<br \/>\nStudents will participate in a science exploration to explain how changing the force on an object affects it&#8217;s motion through making a hypothesis, collecting data, and explaining their results to class.<\/p>\n<p>Key Vocabulary:<br \/>\nForce-a push or pull<br \/>\nMotion-changing position<br \/>\nDistant-the amount an object changes position<br \/>\nGravity-force that pulls objects toward Earth<br \/>\nFriction-force that goes against the motion of an object<\/p>\n<p>Reading: students are focusing on reading strategies to help them become better readers. Our CAFE strategies for this week are:<br \/>\n-Summarize text, including sequence of main events<br \/>\n-Use main idea and supporting details to determine importance<br \/>\n-Voracious reading<br \/>\n-Use appropriate level texts that are a good fit<\/p>\n<p>Spelling:<br \/>\nThis week\u2019s spelling is spelling list #4 Students receive a new spelling list every Monday and must save these spelling cards and continuously study the spelling pattern.  On the 7th week, we will have a Random Spelling test from List A and Both.<br \/>\nSpelling words are written in their planners too.  In addition, students write Content Words don&#8217;t follow the spelling pattern. <\/p>\n<p>Note: If a student is absent on Monday, he\/she must make sure to take their spelling list from their absent folder on their desks.  Sometimes things get busy on Mondays and the responsible helper\/ or I forget to place a spelling list, please remind them to get one from me as soon as possible and to copy the content words.  I appreciate your help!  <\/p>\n<p>Fluency:<br \/>\nI sent the Fluency pink folder home last week! I am so excited to report that most of the class completed reading Monday-Thursday and answered the comprehension question on the back.   Couple of students had an incomplete.  Please have your son\/daughter practice reading with understanding and time them for one minute for each attempt.  Fluency tests are given weekly.<\/p>\n<p>Math:<br \/>\nWe will be working on analyzing and constructing graphs.   <\/p>\n<p>Snacks:<br \/>\nPlease send a healthy snack daily. <\/p>\n<p>October book orders<br \/>\nBook order are due on Monday the 24th of October.  Don&#8217;t forget to place your order.<\/p>\n<p>***Important: Friday is half day for students.
