Dear Parents and Guardians, \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0September 17th, 2015<\/span><\/p>\n

I was so excited to meet our parents yesterday during Open House. \u00a0During that time, passed Classroom guidelines and policies. \u00a0If we missed you yesterday, I will be sending a copy to review the PBIS policies and expectations. \u00a0Also, take the time to <\/span>review your child’s planner every night for any notes and homework. \u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n

Here is a quick look at what’s going on in our classroom now, and what is expected from your son\/daughter.<\/span><\/p>\n

Spelling:<\/strong>Tomorrow is our spelling test. \u00a0We are studying silent e sound words. \u00a0We also have five content words. \u00a0 It is our first official spelling test! \u00a0 Please have your child review either list A or list B and study the “both” section too. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Math<\/strong>: We are studying telling time to the nearest minute. \u00a0Practice real life problems telling time, and have your child complete the homework. Also, have students practice math facts on-line, flash cards, or worksheets. \u00a0If ipads and computers available, students are encouraged to use technology every night using websites such as Frontrow, Xtra math, and everydaymathonline. \u00a0Look for user names and passwords coming home soon stapled to their planner.<\/span><\/p>\n

Reading<\/strong>: Read every night for 20 minutes, and ask and answer comprehension questions. Watch for the Response Logs coming home soon.<\/span><\/p>\n

Science<\/strong>: Forces as push and pulls. With your supervision, students were asked to try the soap and sponge experiment.<\/span><\/p>\n

Writing<\/strong>: We are writing a personal narrative. \u00a0Discuss with your child the topic they chose to write about. \u00a0Students will bring their writing home to share. <\/span><\/p>\n

Also, writing prompts will come home after the vacation. \u00a0Students will write a paragraph about the prompt given using the who, what, when, where, why, and how to write a\u00a0minimum\u00a0of 5-8\u00a0complete sentences. \u00a0Students will have to plan, write first draft, revise, edit, and publish for homework every week. \u00a0Please review their writing by having them read it aloud to you.<\/span><\/p>\n

I would love to meet the rest of you as soon as possible to have open communications in order to maximize the student’s success! We will make a great team!<\/span><\/p>\n
