This is a year of important transitions, as well as gaining new skills. I hope to make your child\u2019s learning experience a fun and exciting one, and I hope to instill a love of learning.\u00a0\u00a0So many things\u00a0happen in\u00a0Third Grade! In fact, this year will be full of important transitions. It is tremendously important to keep in mind that we all build on small successes. Each child will progress at his\/her own rate, acquiring skills as he\/she is developmentally ready. Maintaining each child\u2019s self-esteem and building a secure foundation for future growth will always remain a priority in our third grade. Here are some ways you can help:\u00a0Celebrate your child\u2019s success, no matter how small it may seem. This will keep your child enthusiastic about learning and proud of their work!\u00a0 Read to and with your child every day, if possible. The more your child is exposed to language, the easier it will be for him\/her to incorporate new skills in reading and writing in the classroom.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000;\">I am looking forward to be working with your child this year, and helping him\/her to achieve his\/her full potential.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Parent\/Teacher Communication<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000;\">I believe that a good parent-teacher relationship is necessary for maximum school success. Throughout the year I will communicate with you through emails, telephone calls, progress reports and parent-teacher conferences. I encourage you to contact me if you have any questions or concerns at any time. You can call me at school ( 313)\u00a0827-1700,\u00a0or e-mail me at shakara@dearbornschools.org<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Daily folder\/planner\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #008000;\">There will be a daily folder sent home each day. Any papers placed on the left side of the opened folder should be \u201cleft\u201d at home and any papers on the right side should come \u201cright\u201d back to me.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Planners will be filled daily with important reminders, homework, tests, projects, and up coming events.\u00a0 Please take the time everyday to review your child\u2019s planner and initial it.\u00a0\u00a0Also, planners are a great way to communicate with each other, so feel free to\u00a0write me a little note as needed.\u00a0Finally, your child\u00a0 will\u00a0use the planner to\u00a0circle their behavior daily.\u00a0 The goal is to stay on green or above!\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Homework is given on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday\u00a0every week.\u00a0This is a great time for you as a parent\/guardian to go over important skills with your child.\u00a0 Please note that all homework will be graded, and will be due on Friday or the last day of the week.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Again, I look forward to teaching your child and working with you to help your child achieve their fullest potential.
