Fordson High School will be giving Technology training tonight, Tuesday, April 24, at 6:00PM. They will show you how to set up email accounts, subscribe to teacher blogs and school blogs, how to use parent connection accounts, and how to use social media. I am sure it will be very beneficial.
There is homework every night for your child. The paper letter books are to be read each night, and your child should be practicing writing their name, counting, and learning the ABCs. Spend no longer than 20 minutes doing these activities.
Young Fives have started learning about goods and services. Today the children wore uniforms of different service people in the community, which included:police officer, fire fighter, chef, cook, construction worker, doctor, and more. Please ask your child how service workers in the community (including teachers) help others.
There is no school for all Young Fives and Kindergarten students this Friday, February 2. The teachers will be at a meeting all day.
McDonald PTA is collecting Box Tops for Education as a fundraiser for PTA. If you have any on your cereal boxes, kleenex boxes, etc., please send them in with your child.
Thank you to all the parents and family members who attended our parent meeting last week! It was a huge success! Below is a summary of what was discussed. If you have any questions, please let me know!
Early bedtime– Please have your child go to bed early so they are well rested for the school day.
Please let your child take off and hang their own jackets as well as get their folders and book bags out of their back backs. In the winter, each student will have to learn how to zip their own coats, put on gloves, etc., to go outside for recess in a short amount of time. I will be helping students, but we want them to be as independent as possible.
Please check your child’s folder every single night. Anything that is on the keep at home side of the folder, please keep at home, otherwise the folder can fill up quickly and papers can be lost. Anything on the return to school side, please send back to school.
Read every night-It important that you or another family member read with your child every night.
Book bags are sent home every night. Please have your child spend about 15 minutes practicing their names or sight words. They are to return everything the next day.
Snacks brought to school must be healthy. Please no cookies, chips, or candy bars.
If you want us to celebrate your child’s birthday in class, please send a healthy treat or goody bag. Cake, cupcakes and juice are not allowed.
Thank you for your support and I look forward to a fun filled year!
Reminder: All students need to wear gym shoes every day!
Our gym days are Thursday and Friday. Please make sure that your child is wearing gym shoes on those days. They should be wearing gym shoes every day because they go outside to play every day, and they are safer than dress shoes.
